As I understand the 'story so far' you currently have Windows 10 Home and you want to upgrade your unsupported PC to Windows 11 Home 24H2 using an English International ISO you have downloaded from Microsoft.

If so, then you can do this without using Rufus. Mount the ISO, then before you run Setup to start the in-place upgrade, use the commands from Option Three in this tutorial. They make a few registry changes that tell Setup to ignore the system checks (I believe they're the same ones Rufus uses). Then run Setup from the mounted ISO to start the upgrade.

My honest opinion is, and the steps I would take are;

  • If an in-place upgrade using RUFUS didn’t work
  • A clean install doesn’t work

Just doing the in-place upgrade now without updates again. If not I’ll do a clean install. In boot menu do I choose USB Hdd?

Yes I think so. I’m also going to try your windows 11 link even though the keep files has been grayed out due to not being an English International version, would you recommend that?

I’m taking a wild guess and saying USB HDD

USB FDD? I am not sure, USB FDD. It’s either going to boot to the USB or it isn’t, in which case change it.

I don't know if this is Int English, but it should be, I can't remember ever downloading anything else. There would be no point

Ok thanks it just when I ran it I wasn’t able to keep files. Tbh I’m past caring now but if you could send one over I’d give it a go as it might work. Installing is NEVER a problem as that works, it’s when it restarts during set up I get the BSOD at around 65% 😫

Did you resort to a 24H2 ISO because mine was greyed out when being asked to keep all files??

Yes I’m still using the one I downloaded that allows me to jerk my files but now trying with the bat file run 🤞

Do yourself a favor before you throw that laptop through the window.

Clean install from boot.

Use 24H2 if you want to, but I find it causes a lot of lag on older systems. And could be the cause of the BSOD's

Which would be weird because UK/English has similar spelling and setup to Australian/English. It’s just your keyboards that do my head in.
Helping people remotely in the UK has always been an issue due to a slight keyboard problem with the number key functions.
