Windows Photos is the default app for viewing images (jpg). When I double click an image, I get a popup that lists the file name and path and a message that says "The app didn't start".

In Powershell, I ran the command "get-appxpackage *Microsoft.Windows.Photos* | remove-appxpackage" to uninstall Photos. Then go to the Microsoft Store and install Photos. I double click the image file and get the same popup message.

Things to try:

1. Try resetting the app. Settings-Apps-Apps & Features-Microsoft Photos. Under Reset click 'repair' If a repair doesn't help the problem, then click 'reset'.

2. run the app troubleshooter- settings-system-troubleshoot-other troubleshooters-windows store apps-run

3. Check for file system corruption. Open command prompt as administrator and type sfc /scannow. Report back if system file checker finds any corruption it is unable to fix.

When you removed the photos app using the powershell command, did you restart BEFORE you reinstalled the app?
