Windows taskbar not working correct in surround on a triple screen setup.

A workaround for this issue is to open up Nvidia Control Panel. At the top, press Desktop/Surround Displays and uncheck Confine Taskbar to Single Display. Not exactly what I was looking for either, but its better than it just being on the left monitor, taskbar is back where it should be.

Did this in the beginning when I started with Windows 11. After a few reboots same problem, that is not the solution.

Not sure if it's been covered, but for me the taskbar behaviour is related to which monitor is set as primary. This cannot be changed once you enable surround mode, but it's still partly defining which monitor is your primary.

If I set my number 2 (leftmost) monitor to primary, then enable surround, the taskbar will only show on monitor 2, but the start menu and search box will appear on monitor 1 (centre). When in surround mode, this cannot be changed, so I would have to change back to regular multi monitor mode to change it, and then back to surround mode.

Probably doesn't help anyone, just an observation.

I am having this same issue since i got my 3 new monitors.
taskbar is on the left and start menu on middle screen.

I already changed the setting in windows where you assign the middle monitor as primary but when I open Nvidia to configurate surround i see that monitor numbers change.
Middle monitor is seeing by windows as device 2 so i tell it to use it as primary, but nvidia change number of middle monitor to 1 and that is in windows my left monitor. So after starting surround my taskbar is on the left.

I will try this afternoon to move display cables on my GTX1070 and see if i can solve this issue

You can try but I already know it not going to work. Yes for the time you changed it, but after a few restarts or opening a game like ETS2 or a program like office... taskbar appear again on the 3 screen. Big mistake off microsoft where nobody want to resolve the problem. I received already 100 solutions off them, they said earlier it was a problem off Nvdia, all bullshit !!!
After 1 year being an insider an reported this problem from the beginning I decided to go back to Win 10 where I not have this problem. Again taskbar and Windows 11 BIG BULLSHIT !!!

Funny thing is that i had same issue before i changed my screens. Tried also different things, and one of those was changing the position of cables on my card. And never had that problem again.

When I attached this new screens i also had no issues with taskbar. But had issues with Nvidia Surround which kept turning off.
Screens where out of order (left and middle one had a different position then before) that is why i changed the cables on my card

That's something I just remembered, that is why i will try this after i get home.

Other issue I also have with Nvidia Surround and my new screen is the fact that if i do a bezel correction inside Nvidia drivers, surround shuts off after I press enable.
So i am now running nvidia surround without bezel correction

Ok seninha,
my cables are: left screen --> first display port; middle screen --> second dp and right screen --> third dp. I have an RTX3060 Ti Gpu. So I have my hdmi port not in use.
If I understand well, you changed your cables to example left screen --> second displayport and so on and now your taskbar always stay on the middle screen in a surround setup is that correct even when restarting or opening a program or game ?

I tried this before with my 2070 super Gpu that not worked but maybe with this one ???
Want to be sure before I disconnect all cables again ?
Thanks

Looks like I solved my issue (for now).
Taskbar is on middle screen. I changed cables on the back of my card.

Here you can see which monitor is connected to which displayport.

Now I need to figure out WHY i sometime loose my surround settings.
When i started my systeem surround was gone and every monitor was showed apart with his own taskbar

HI I have had this damn problem for ages, and it is a pain in the neck. I there are no solutions I've managed to find online, but I did some testing I think I may have a solution. I have tried this a couple of times (to be sure with system restore) and it has worked every time, (so far). I can't guarantee it will work with your system but it worked on mine every time.

All you have to do is reinstall the NVidia drivers, I know it sounds too simple to be true but trust me, just try it as I detail here and you should be fine. I am currently on 528.24-desktop-win10-win11-64bit-international-dch-whql but this happened with much earlier drivers with Windows11 and even on Windows10 and anyone who has had this issue knows it is not driver specific.

Anyway, here goes. Reinstall the drivers, but make sure when you get to the Installation Options you check the tick box to "Perform a clean Installation" If you don't it will simply use existing settings and you'll be no better off. Once you've installed don't bother changing any windows settings, just go to the Nvidia control panel and enable surround. Drag the monitors into position as required according to the identity location as normal. Voila! you taskbar will be in the middle.

0EM3g0000049gVi

It only works with a clean install of Nvidia drivers the one time. Don't even bother trying to mess around with settings on a previous driver installation, it won't work! Just trust me on this, you'll be wasting your time as the taskbar will always be on the wrong (left) monitor. Just do as above - install drivers -clean install, first exercise to enable will put the taskbar in the middle.

Again, it only works for me on the first install, so if you get this problem again. just do the install again, do bother trying to fix it with an install that that has already had surround configured.

Hope this helps

Oh dear, sorry to hear that, I tried it at least 3 times and it worked each time. ah well, not much more I can add. It seems like one of those issues that doesn't have a definitive fix. Definitely a Nvidia problem though.

Well, I'm not certain, but all the Windows display adjustment options simply work. I have no issues with Windows configuring monitors taskbars or arrangements at all, and from all the posts I've read, neither does anyone else. The problems only arise when trying to configure and enable Nvidia Surround.
As far as I understand it is up to 3rd parties to ensure their software does what it is supposed to with the OS it is installed on. It is incumbent upon them to ensure it works as intended, and if there is an issue they should fix it or address it sufficiently... perhaps with a workaround or supplemental instructions/releases. Surely Microsoft can't be responsible for issues Nvidia surround has with a taskbar settings ourside their configuration options?

One thing I would add which I didn't mention in my prior post is you have to have Nvidia surround DISABLED when you do the new install, otherwise this doesn't work, even if you do a clean install. So ensure you disable surround first before reinstallin the drivers.
