Dual-Boot Windows 11 / Ubuntu 20.04.3
I am running Windows 24H2 build 26100.7309 on a Lenovo X1 Carbon Gen 11 laptop.
I use a GMMK 2 (short) keyboard plugged into a USB port.
I had the keyboard configured how I like it, and all was fine. The keyboard was plugged into the USB port on the right side of the computer, while a Logitech wireless mouse dongle was plugged in on the left side USB A port. Everything working fine, until a windows update was installed on Sunday Dec 07.
After the update and reboot of the computer, the lighting on the keyboard was turned off, and nothing I could do using the GMMK Core software could restore it. The keyboard itself was working fine though.

I tried swapping the keyboard and mouse dongle USB ports, but that didn't work either. Every time I set the lighting in Core software, my lighting was lost after I shut down or just rebooted the computer.
I ended up un-installing Core, re-installing, and swapping the keyboard to the left port with the mouse dongle on the right side port.
Now, I have the keyboard lighting working again.
The same thing happened the last time there was a Windows update on this computer.
I use the same GMMK 2 keyboard (not just same model, but the same physical keyboard) on my Asus Tuf Gaming rig at home, and never have trouble with it after Windows updates.

I am going to attempt to contact GMMK, but the last time I tried, their support e-mail was not working.
Has anyone else had this sort of problem with the GMMK 2 keyboard?

Thanks for your help

There's another update tomorrow. And Microsoft will probably include a keyboard driver with the update, which is what is breaking your keyboard driver. But... there is a solution.

Use this tutorial to "disable" drivers included in Windows updates.

It's not just keyboards. MS's included drivers occasionally corrupt already installed drivers on many other devices.
MS's drivers will still be available, but as "optional" installs.

I have enabled "do not include drivers..." in the group policy editor. It's Wednesday morning, but so far I haven't been notified of updates. Maybe just so I can be sure I don't have any issues, I will turn off updates for a week or two.
