Solved Windows update error 0x80070002

Hello,

When I am trying to install the recent windows update KB5040527 in Windows 11 i am recieving error 0x80070002. Its installed to 100% and then returns an error message. A manual installation by downloading the update package also fails with no error message other than "the update wasnt installed".

sfc /scannow command doesnt return any errors.

This I also tried but didnt help.

here is the CBS.log section that contains the error. Looks like some file is missing the installer wants to work with:

The last W11 build successfully installed was on april 2024 (build 22631.3447) since then, every cumulative update resulted in the mentioned install error.

That was fast. Nice tool that collects all the commands I was finding on the internet so far. There is a problem with the DISM commands on my system. DISM /ScanHealth returns "System cannot find the path specified" at 95% progress. Log file is attached here.

I got the image and mounted it with Daemon Tools in Drive letter L, found the index number 5 for windows 11 pro and executed the command like in the video:

Gives me the usual list of commands the tool has.
I dont know if thats related but this once was a windows 10 installation which was upgraded to 11 using the option given.
