WSL2 crashes after Windows update

WSL2 will not load after windows update

C:\Windows.old\Users\cigto.LAPTOP-TCRMNQRV\AppData\Local\Temp\ tries to start WSL2?

pc WANTS TO INSTALL wsl.2.5.7.0.x64.msi

IN ANY CASE WSL2 Ubuntu 25,04 is dead!

Something happened in the middle of the night and this morning there was WSL terminal window showing with Linux prompt along with several debug terminal windows without prompts. I entered "nemo" and a nemo (like file explorer) GUI came up. I entered "evolution" and my email returned and so on.

Perhaps I am not "drving the car correctly". There are two penguin (linux) icons in the windows taskbar.

I apologize for delay in completing my message. The two penguin icons in the Windows Taskbar are a text window entitled, "WSL Debug Console: and a GUI window entitled, "Windows Subsystem for Linux Settings" In the lower left-hand corner is a click-on text entitled, "Launch wsl.exe". Clicking on that text opens up a Linux terminal window, analogous to clicking on the Terminal icon on the Ubuntu Unity desktop. You enter the name of the program you wish to run at the $ prompt.

I hope I have this right so that those who do the documentation can come up with some simple, easy-to-understand instructions.
