10 must have apps...

I use many "applications" not "apps", as in the Apps that Microsoft include with windows or sell in their store

There is no way I would class the "applications" I use as "apps" [for example I use a small number of adobe products and the Adobe folder in "Programs" is over 12 GB and 38000 Files - not including content or temporary files]

Isn't APP an abbreviation for APPlication ?
For clarity, one should state Store APP or Win32 applications.

I think he meant those utilities not worthy of the name 'app'

I had a good example of one of the reasons I Do not use Microsoft apps yesterday, it's the matter of control, I had accidentally set the option for Adobe Lightroom to automatically update when there was an update available, [which is the default for Microsoft "Apps"]

Yesterday I awoke and switched on my monitor, (I never switch off my main system unless I have to for installs etc), and saw that it had rebooted, ok I could manage with that, [I always save at the end of a session and regularly during work]. Later in the day I went to use Lightroom and it crashed taking down other items that were in use. Again nothing catastrophic but annoying - I then had to spend time sending reports to Adobe for what turned out to be a Dot upgrade [12.2 to 12.3[ and I also had to reinstall 12.2, which took around 30 Minutes. If I was using my normal settings I would have been informed that an update was available and I could choose to check reports of any issues and installed when I was happy that it was safe

This is a snip of my Image editing application list, I do not use all applications equally although Lightroom is used to catalogue all my images and other applications are used as Plugins for specific tasks.

I'm glad to see file searcher Everything from voidtools.com is well known.

Application Mover from Funduc is very solid and can move apps to another drive. Very handy if C: drive is getting full.
