My old i7 machine is slowing down - I use it for audio recording and I'm looking to upgrade.
I'm keeping the case, PSU, 6 HD's and one SSD drive and the video card.
I'm no expert these days so:
1 are these components compatible?
2 Is there a better option for the money?

Only you can answer that.
If it does what you want and the cost is OK for you, then yes, it's good bang for the buck.

If you're in the US and near a Microcenter... they have combo sales sometimes, and it's possible to save a bunch.

Which case?
You have 6 HDDs you want to keep, you will need a board with at least 6 SATA ports.
Depending on if your SSD is using SATA or M.2 connector and if it is m.2 and SATA rather than NVMe, you'll have to choose your motherboard carefully.

Alternatively you'll need a cheaper board but an addon card with 2-4 SATA ports as most motherboards only have 4 built in.

@SlicEnDicE is correct. My motherboard has 6 SATA ports but 2 are disabled if M2_3 is occupied, which it is.
