Alt+Tab not working correctly

Hi folks,

When I use Alt+Tab to switch applications, the cursor focus is never where I expect it to be and I always need to hit Escape to continue working. For example, I'm now typing this in a Chrome tab and I also have a Word document open. If I now use Alt+Tab to switch to my Word document, Word acts as though I've hit the Alt key again and displays menu shortcuts. So to return the cursos to where it was previously, I also have to hit Escape after Alt+Tab. This happens in all applications.

How can I fix this?

Many thanks.

It does that to me too on certain apps (mainly Total Commander thinks I hit Alt on the window). This has been for at least the last few versions (I'm on the latest Beta).

There have been reports of this happening all the way back to early WIndows 10. Some people have found that turning off focus assist fixes the issue. Others had moved their taskbar from default location causing the problem. The fixes are varied and many as you can see by doing a web search for "windows 11 alt tab" If you are using any third party app that affects the GUI, try turning it off.

Thanks glasskuter, I'll try these tips and report back if any work.
