I don't need to watch a video, I have my own experiences to come to my own conclusion. My point is, Its still one of the best, Its like ebay, Anyone can sell on amazon, even you or me, I can actually sell stock through amazon AND keep all the stock in the AMAZON warehouse even though it would be OWNED by me as well as me never having touched or seen it, and distro'd by amazon, More to the point, What about sites like Ali express and wish etc etc? Im sorry but its all on the user, If you manage to order something that isn't what you want..then thats on you for not doing due diligence and research on said product. Its really the same thing when choosing what site to shop on. Where do we stop?

The problem is that they sell what you want but they don't deliver what you ordered (according to descriptions and reviews). Reviews are fake and very often you did not get the quality you were expecting.

Agreed. Amazon are like eBay... a very long time ago a buyer on eBay complained that the genuine retail CD of Windows XP he had bought came with a licence sticker that had holes in it. He returned it to the buyer after which eBay promptly refunded. The vast majority of regular posters on this forum are similar to this... they don't know that these holes in the licence sticker were by design, as they don't understand how to use a search box on the interwebs. Instead, they just complain about having not enough buyer protection...

If you don't want to watch the video that's fine.
I disagree it's one of the best anymore. I started using Amazon in 2006 and it was a few notches better than the likes of Ali Express and Ebay then.
In recent years it has gone down hill to the level of the other two IMHO and as always it's buyer beware with any site. I have no issues with using it and not caught out with anything... yet, in all the years I've been using it.
As long as Amazon is treated with the same disrespect, today, as the other two sites then it should be fine for the buyer.

Just to (sorta) echo what @TraderGary just said, I've been an active customer of Amazon (CA) and a Prime member for at least ten years, and have yet to have a negative experience. What arrives is almost always exactly what I ordered, and if it ain't right, Amazon always gives me the choice of return-for-refund or accept replacement. Example: Had a Logi M510 wireless mouse die on me about two months after it arrived. Requested a return. Amazon had the new one in my hands the next day, and gave me a month or more to return the defective product at Amazon's expense.

Just to add, I've never had any problems with Amazon either, because I'm careful what I order and where it's from.
My main gripe is that they don't properly check the 3rd-party sellers aren't scammers, which makes them complicit in any scam sales.
They need some accountability for what goes on their website, whether it's sold from Amazon directly or not.

It all also depends very much on what you are buying. Electronics and computer parts are generally OK, but it is all the other stuff like components(not computer related) that are total garbage. Many big companies/brands has left Amazon all together, one reason is because of the too generous return policy practice by Amazon. This has lead to some unknown China brands to rise to the top, from which a lot of stuff sold looks great and promising but are complete shite in practice.

TBH, Amazon DOES have an edge over eBay and all the China stores still though.

They do take some responsability even if the item is not sold by them directly (but is still fulfilled by them). Here is a clear example of this, in the (not computer/electronics related) components category: Amazon.com Seller Profile: Fleetwear

I don't believe that. I do know Amazon lease space in their warehouse to third party sellers. The listings shows the 3rd party seller but it ships from an Amazon warehouse.

I switched to the UK Amazon site but couldn't find them. It would have helped if the OP included links in his posts.

My mistake was they weren't even listed as AMD CPUs. I tried another strategy. I did a Google search for the text, "CPU Ryzen 9 5950X New R9 5950X 3.4GHz 16 Cores 32 Threads 7NM L3=64M 100-000000059 Support Desktop CPU Gaming Socket AM4 Responsive and powerful". It took me to the US Amazon website. Here is the link.

Here is some information from the listing. Note seller is listed as EXELNT with no mention of anywhere in the listing of the manufacturer AMD. Note in the listing that neither the seller or shipper is Amazon. NOTE: if you order it today you might even get it before the last return date!

We should be smart enough to buy high value PC hardware direct from Amazon and not from 3rd party sellers. Price and authenticity is one thing, But what I avoid the most is dealing with 3rd party sellers when it comes to warranty and exchange. I built a PC from Amazon. Returns and exchange are flawless. They even refund me right away after dropping off the return item at the post office. No need to wait. At least that's my experience here in Canada. It's simple, if they did not receive the item back, they will charge me again.

While I am unsettled by the way Amazon is taking over the world, I am less even more frustrated by the alternatives. I have tried to use local and bricks and mortar purveyors but commonly receive worse service and higher prices.

Example: When I noticed Home Depot was redlining my zip code and charging 18% more than other (more distant) Home Depots, I threw up my hands. If it just a choice between two corporate scoundrels, I may as well choose the one with better service.

For items like this, this is only seller info you should look for: "Ships from & Sold by Amazon" and you won't have any problem.

That's not correct. 3rd party seller stocking system is an Amazon business. They charge 3rd party sellers for storage and stocking/re-stocking. So Amazon stocks are separate from 3rd party sellers with their own barcodes. If you need an exchange, Amazon will not do it for you. You will have to deal with the 3rd party seller first. If the seller is not resolving your issue, that's when Amazon will step in and give you a full refund but will not do an exchange. They don't have control over 3rd party seller fulfillment.

These have to be FAKE!

Here are just two of at least a dozen of these:

Shipped from China, and returns have to be sent back there (likely at customer's expense).
Like I said, buying from Amazon directly isn't a problem, the issue is that these are allowed on their site in the first place without any checks. Each one of these listed items are from a different seller!

It's kind of ironic that Amazon ARE selling these directly and at normal RRP (around £450).
