App & Browser control section is completely missing from windows security center

Realizing that this thread originated many months ago. Plus it is easy to get lost since some people are on different Insider builds; others on regular releases. But just as a potential tip. There is a handy Powershell query that can help.
Hi maurice,
The problem is that version 1000.22621.1.0 is not working correctly with builds 22000.xxx and it is reintroducing the bug that was fixed in builds 22621 and 22622.
"App & browser control" are now missing in Build 22000.918 while they are fine with builds 22621 and 22622.
I think MS made a mistake using the same platform update version 1.0.2207.20002 for Builds 22000.xxx.
Removing that platform update and reinstalling 1.0.2109.27002 fixes the problem in Build 22000.918.
Then you have to trick W.U. to avoid adding back the faulty update again, at least till MS comes out with the proper fix. 🤣
From what I see, the new version of the Windows Security platform looks incompatible with current public windows Build 22000.918.

No worries here. The output from the PS query that I posted -is- from a working system that does not have a issue. It does not have the Preview release KB5016691. at this star-date, KB5016691 is a preview & it should be noted is also a non-security update.

Hi maurice,
I get the same output that you show from the PS query.
kb5016691 was also available and downloaded as optional in public build and the Build went from 22000.856 to 22000.918, if the problem is caused by kb5016691 they still need to fix it.
We'll see what happens with next update. 😎

Also, this one does not have KB5016691 and still shows the same problem with Build 22000.856. 😎🤷‍♂️
"App & browser control" are missing in this page below. The problem is caused by the Windows Security Platform Update 1.0.2207.20002.

Same bug on Build 22000.978 and 22000.1041 after latest Windows security platform update on 9/19/2022 version 1.0.2208.16003.
Missing App & browser control on Security dashboard. 😝
Same procedure described earlier to temporarily fix the problem using the older version 1.0.2109.27002.
MS needs to fix this bug, but I don't think they are looking at the FBH reports. 😎
It seems just a silly mistake, the new versions are not compatible with current public Builds 21H2 22000.xxxx. 🤷‍♂️

Yes, that is correct, it is only missing in View security dashboard (Security at a glance).
It is just an update that is not compatible with 21H2 builds 22000.xxxx, it only works correctly with 22H2 Builds.
I don't understand why MS keeps pushing it out also to 21H2. Sloppy job! 🤣
22H2 is still just for insiders.

There might be an update to 22H2, or whatever they'll be calling it, today so it doesn't really matter.

I do have a command which will specifically reinstall the 22H2 security app, but the bug will return.
Hello. Could you please write me what is the command that will restore the latest version of Security Health? I have Windows 11 22H2 and I have installed the older version 1000.22000.251.0 and I would like to go back to version 1000.22621.1.0 but nowhere can I find what to do. The SFC and DISM commands did nothing for me. Or have someone send me the APPX file with the latest version for me to install. I would be very grateful for your help. Regards

@dujd,
Look in this folder C:\Windows\Sytem32\SecurityHealth and see what versions are present.
The latest I have with current public Build 22621.674 is 1.0.2209.220001-0.
Inside that folder you will find the .appx file that allows to reinstall the latest version. Just double click on it and you can reinstall the latest version.
If Windows Update finds an older version, it should already update to the latest one.
I don't know how you can still have the old 1000.22000.251.0 that was on the 2109 version of the SecHealthUI unless you did some trick to prevent the update from W.U. 🤷‍♂️

I cannot send you any file. Windows Update should take care of that. If you have an older version when you check for updates, it should download the latest one. What windows Build are you currently on?
22H2 22621.xxx
or
21H2 22000.xxxx
?

You could also download the appropriate ISO from Microsoft and do an update/repair in place of your system, that should reinstall the latest windows security too.

I did not know before that it is enough to delete the folder 1.0.2109.27002-0. Now I have an old version of the application and Windows Update is not finding a new one for me. Try update/repair in place using the ISO from MS.

I would rather avoid ISO repair because this option will reinstall the whole system. That's why I care so much about this APPX package. Can't you just throw this file onto some server and pass me the link? This solution is really the least invasive for my system.

The .appx alone is not enough, to get the proper update of the security you need the whole folder for the latest update.
1665862038133.png

There is nothing invasive doing an update/repair with ISO, it keeps all your files and programs.
The official MS ISO you can download is 22621.525.
Or you could use a third-party ISO 22621.674.

But understand that I have the latest version, only the application in the Microsoft Store has an older one, so I need this APPX to restore it. I can't find this file anywhere on the net, and you just have it, so please send me this file either to an e-mail or upload it to the server. I really want to avoid ISO repair because it restores some system settings (e.g. services) that I have to manually disable later. I am asking for this file, it will really help me a lot.
