Audio Interface, Voice to Text & a Mixer

An audio interface or a mixer will not help in this case as they both lack the ability to convert voice to text. That operation happens in the PC and is performed by software.

You can use an audio interface to get your mic audio into the PC, but it isn't really necessary. The mic input on your PC should be sufficient.

Bottom line: You need some software like Dragon to get this to work like you want it to.

I'm sure institutions that help partially sighted people to use computers might be able to suggest some options -- plus also the reverse where scanning a piece of text could be converted into audio.

I'm sure these types of devices must exist -- although what the cost would be -- no idea. Seems to me with more and more "Voice activation" things around it can't be long before these types of devices go mainstream -- voice to text should be orders of magnitude faster than even the fastest human typist.
