You can well imagine my chagrin when I discovered that the same issue was present on a Windows 11 ready X299 system board and an Intel® Core™ i9-7960X CPU. I had to put this baby to bed so-to-speak. Now I don't recommend anyone do this but . . .

What sort of risk do you suppose I am taking when I turn off "memory integrity" in "core isolation"? Because that is the only way I know how to make that ugly warning to go away.

The Memory Integrity isolation is only relevant when using virtual machines, so you isolate the host from the guest OS. If you don't run virtual machines, or you don't care because you are careful what you do in the guest OS, then you can turn it off. In Windows 10 it is off by default, so it will remain off after upgrading to 11. In Windows 11 it is on by default (if supported by the hardware, otherwise off or no option at all in Security settings).

IMPORTANT: I just remembered older posts that some systems would slow down if you enabled Memory Integrity isolation! Similarly when you have two or more antiviruses running in parallel. So unless you really need it, keep it disabled to improve performance!

Thank you so much for your reassurance. Next question, if I may: What if I do use a virtual machine or two or three? How much of a risk am I taking if I keep the Memory Integrity isolation turned off? To be completely honest I never heard of this feature until I started using Windows 11 and stumbled upon it in my desperation to find a way to get rid of that unsightly blemish in device manager.

This affects computers that have enabled hardware virtualization in BIOS. If you don't have hardware virtualization enabled, there is no risk.

Okay, so I really don't mean to be annoying but I do have hardware virtualisation enabled in my "BIOS" for security reasons and that seems to work quite well for me. What would the risk be with the Memory Integrity Isolation turned off?

As long as you are careful what you do with the guest OS and have an updated antivirus, I would not worry.

So if I am to understand this correctly as long as I use a guest log in on my VMs with my antivirus enabled and updated I should be good to go. Yes?
