When I checked to see if BypassIO was supported, my GPU was fully supported but none of my SSDs were. Each had the message: BypassIO not supported due to driver: Ul5lFS. I searched Windows for that driver and nothing came up. Same when I searched the registry. Nothing comes up on Google either. Seeing as I have 2 different SSD manufacturers, Samsung and SoldiIGM, what's the chance that they have the same driver that I can't find? What the heck is that 'driver'?

3rd party antivirus? try disabling it and check.
Check if you have the latest firmware for your SSD’s
I have read, to check if there is an update to the Windows RTP file system filter driver, if not, disable it and check again.

How did you check?

Open CMD as admin and replace the drive letter (C) with the drive letter you want to check

fsutil bypassIo state c:\

Probably should see if your motherboard is up to date also?

Identified UI5IFS as being associated with AShampoo Uninstaller. Removed that program and up popped PDFsFilter which is associated with PerfectDisk software. I do not have PerfectDisk installed. Can I just delete this driver and see what else pops up?

Do you have a system backup?

PerfectDisk

I read that program mentioned a few times when searching.

Went ahead and just renamed PDFsFilter.sys instead of deleting it. Rebooted and now I get the message:

BypassIo on "xx:\" is partially supported
Volume stack bypass is disabled (secnvmeF.sys)
Storage Type: NVMe
Storage Driver: Not BypassIo Compatible

where xx = all the SSDs.

Apparently, secnvmeF.sys is a Samsung SSD driver. Looking at Google I see where someone has replace the Samsung SSD driver with the standard NVME Express Controller driver as such: go into device manager,

  1. Right-click onto the listed “Samsung NVMe Controller” and choose “Update driver” > “Browse my computer…” > “Let me pick…”.
  2. Now you should see the “Standard NVM Express Controller” listed as compatible device.
  3. Choose it and click onto the “Continue” button.
  4. After the next reboot the NVMe Controller of your SSD will be managed by the generic MS NVMe driver.
Should I do this? I have secure boot enabeled. Will that interfere?

Same thread I was getting my info from.

So I ask you, do you have a system restore/image backup? If so, yes, I’d go for it. Nicole read like she knew what she was talking about.

    ...Where's my horse?
BypassIO should work if I have only one drive with the NVME Express Controller driver and leave the other two as they are, or do all the drives need to be the same for it to work?

Also, Storage controllers under device manager shows one Samsung NVMe controller and two SolidIGM NVMe controllers. I want to change only the non-C:\ drive SolidIGM but how do I tell in device manager which is which? The only descriptions I get for those controllers are that one is on PCI Bus 21 and the other is on PCI bus 2. I don't want to take the chance and change my C:\ drive controller and then find out the PC won't boot.

Checked numerous sources on the PC and determined that the drive in question was on bus 21. Changed the storage driver to the generic MS NVMe driver and now BypassIO is enabeled on all the SSDs.

Thanks for all the help.

I have the same problem but I don't see any “Standard NVM Express Controller” option. I only have "Disk Drive" even if I show unsupported drivers it doesn't show up.
