Solved Can't Create Dual Boot

On my computer, not only can both OSs access my data drive, but both OSs can access the files on the other OS. It's a matter of assigning a drive letter and setting file permissions.

@Wynona, Sometimes it`s a good thing that each OS can`t see the other, but that`s totally up to you :)

One other thing I noticed, in activation it says WIn 11 Home, but it must be Pro as I have Bit Locker, I think it's because the C: drive was an upgrade from home to pro

It could be Device Encryption on Home version.

I don't know if you can use the generic key to upgrade again as never tried it.

@Fabler2 Yes I do only have home on this partition, and pro on the main one. It was turned off on C: and activated on F: when I installed the dual boot OS

@NavyLCDR Thanks for info, I can see both OS in explorer and worked out if I locate the executable for the program in C: via explorer and create a shortcut in F: it all works ( well the ones I have tried thus far ) with the exception of Office 2019 Pro Plus so that was a reinstall job

OK, I'd like to do that; is there a tutorial on how to? If it involves networking, I'm not sure I can do that because I've failed miserably in the past.

Question.... I now have dual boot working fine, I use EasyBCD to rename the volume Windows 11 instead of Windows10 as it originally did. Every time I turn on the computer it seems to boot to the last operating system used, after a restart the boot menu appears, is that the correct behaviour or should I get a boot menu when I first turn the machine on as well?

I don't know if it works in Windows 11, but when I was getting a similar thing happening (dual boot system would only boot to the last updated OS) . . . I used my Macrium Reflect Rescue USB stick and fixed boot problems. Once I did that, dual boot operated perfectly.

It's really easy. Just plug in the stick and boot with it. You'll see a few options, including "fix boot problems" or something quite similar. You'll recognize it when you see it. Click on that, and follow the yellow brick road.

When it asks to reboot, unplug the USB stick or it'll try to go through the same . . .

I don't use anything other than the native boot manager, everytime I reboot I get the choice of what OS I want to boot, Beit W11 Beta (default) W11 Dev or W10
