While individuals will buy a Surface, the product line is geared towards large companies and their IT staff. That's why MS doesn't offer a clean support site, where you find your PC model and get the usual pick of software tools, drivers, and user manuals. Other than Xbox, MS is terrible at the direct-to-consumer model. You're right, it's difficult for a normal person.
