Solved Can't Pin A Shortcut to Desktop

For the life of me, I can't seem to create a desktop shortcut that I can move to task bar.
All seems to go right until Step#3. There's no "create shortcut" to choose.

Howdy, old friend, your title says you want to PIN a shortcut to the desktop. You don't do that. You can create a shortcut on the desktop, you can move a shortcut to the desktop, and you can copy a shortcut to the desktop, but ya can't PIN it to the desktop.

So, on to your challenge:

To get a shortcut to a Website on your desktop (which is what your PDF deals with), let's do this: While you're here on ElevenForum, in Google Chrome, click the three dots just under the X in the upper right-hand corner of your screen, and from the menu, put your pointer over Save and share (don't click it; just hover over it) and you'll see a panel on the left that has Create shortcut... in it. Click that and you'll see a panel high on your screen that says Create shortcut? There's a filled-in blank with the name of the site in it. You cam edit that to anything you want to call the shortcut. Or leave it as is. Now click Create, and you'll have a shortcut on your desktop, and if you right-click that, you'll see Pin to taskbar. Done.

Your PDF instructions were just out of date. Chrome has changed a lot recently.

Here is a correction to the instructions:

In Settings...

1. Go go to Save and share
2. Select Create Shortcut

3. Shortcut is created on desktop

4 Copy shortcut to taskbar

If you are aim is to PIN an app to the taskbar, just right click it and choose PIN to the Taskbar.

Dave, I read your PDF attachment in the first post. You are wanting to pin a website link to your taskbar, you said it doesn’t work, yet I posted a link on your other thread about the same issue and you said it worked?

Why on earth is it so tough to create a YouTube icon (shortcut) on my Taskbar? I swear, I forget more than I learn. :) BTW: I'm using "StartAllBack). Help! :) Thanks: Dave

In Microsoft Edge, you create an app and you can pin it to your taskbar or Start Menu.

You can go to share and save the site you're on as a desktop shortcut.

If it isn't already already present in your Apps folder, you can move it to the Programs Folder.

I can still use the Send to, Desktop (create shortcut) feature on the context menu of File Explorer.

I'm sure you can, but OP's problem is with a shortcut to a Web site. If you have another look at #1 and d/l and read the (old) PDF text, you'll see what he's trying. And the solution is here in the thread -- several times.
