Yes indeed it is, since no sources are provided with those comparaisons.
Let me guess PrivaZer site?
Regardless, I will stick to what works for me.
"I can not accept such blasphemy against our lord and saver PrivaZer! 🤯 Everyone should follow and cherish its existence, EVERYONE!"🙇‍♂️

... is not what i said. 🙃

Here... Analysing Privazer and CCleaner: Which Cleanser Is Better

Also, a more comprehensive review: PrivaZer Review: Is This Privacy Cleaner Worth Your Time?

You'll also find plenty of user experiences all over the internet - where CCleaner is usually diminished by comparison. After all, both are free and fully functional - cleaing wise. And OFC! You can use whatever tool works for you. Converting people is not really my thing. CC did fail big time in 2017 (and again in 2023, but the MOVEit breach - only affected paying customers) - and even in terms of functionality, still has some shady ways of doing things: i disabled its update and crash reporting options - only to find those entries again as Enabled in Task Scheduler, disabled any function which would require a connection to the internet - only to get spammed by notifications from the firewall - and that hasn't changed to this day...

5.webp

- checking the IP-s, some are connected to Update servers (which was Disabled, so why?!), to Software Update (also Disabled, so why?!), to Telemetry services (to be expected) and third-party ads services (also to be expected). Don's like being treated like a fool - but that's a common thing for Avast Owners, currently owners of CCleaner too (not like Piriform was any difrent) - to treat the users of their products - as naive and ignorant to what their software is doing (to trust - that if an option is disabled in an app it will respect the choice of the user - instead of taking one for a fool and playing games like above). But hey, i can block it - so the joke's on them.

Then there's the paid features - which can do more harm than good. Like their Driver Booster (that's iObit - but not much difference here either, same... uselessness). For start - it can't even tell i'm using a laptop (every free hardware info tool can do that with ease).

The sound drivers on my system - have no issue whatsoever (fully functional and fully stable), yet if finds a newer version released in June 2025 - which would impact the functionality of my sound chip - both in terms of stability (system would loose sound - if going to skeep any waking-up) - but also by loosing the Audio featured embed with this product (A-Volute/SteelSeries Nahimic & Sonar).

Next, the Ethernet Drivers...

uuu.webp

It can't even tell - I'm running Windows 11, or that i'm actually using the latest available Driver: 1168.24.318.2025 (Windows 11) for Intel® Killer™ E2500v2, E2600

Same goes for IME interface driver - where installing their version - would loose support for Intel ICLS Client.

And this is a PAID FEATURE! They're actually asking money - to mess one's system's drivers. And same can be said about their Software Updater....

cool.webp

Cool, worth every penny - not like free apps for home users...

yyyyyyyyy.webp

To each their own.

I finally had CCleaner pop up the "New" installer on one of my systems. I denied it and just uninstalled CCleaner....for now.

I'm a computer enthusiast so have quite a few systems that I run. More like an advanced hobby.

Same thing just happened to me, debating if I want to keep it or uninstall it now.

I tried PrivaZer and found it is not for me.

Still not my thing, time after time (in past thousands of years - of human history) - facts proved to be pointless while facing long term habitual beliefs...

So no, all of that - was not intended as a complete waste of my time. But he made it sound - like i pulled all that info out of my trash bin (as if it's made up bogus which none can prove or backup) - and I'm more of man of science (providing proof is my thing). That being said, that was more for anyone bumping into this topic (not for you and others alike either - that too would be a complete waste of my time, clearly) - who's actually interested in the current state of CC (more than 80% of my previous post is about CC) - and a better alternative. Even if not PrivaZer (that's just 1 of the tools i use - while aiming for thorough cleaning, so rarely... cause i also intend to prolong the life of my SSD as long as posible), CCleaner is really easy to beat this days - by free alternatives, for anything it has to offer (even paid).

So the portable version from Major Geeks is still version 6.39 but anytime you open it tries to immediately install the new installer version of version 7. What gives? So is Wise Care 365 still any good?

Does not do that for me but I delete the X64 folder and only keep the exe.
Then I block the CCleaner64.exe in the firewall in and out.
If you had the installer version of CCleaner previous there will be registry entries to check for updates.
Look in the registry HKCU and HKLM for Piriform.

Must be one of the files in the portable folder triggering it then. Last time I had an installer version I completely removed it and all registry traces with Revo Uninstaller. In any event after these forced update attempts on three machines that were running the portable versions I'm no longer interested in even using the software any longer and more interested in the best alternative now.

After looking I'm guessing the CCUpdate .exe file is probably the culprit

Yes one of the reasons why I delete the X64 folder.
So, here's a little Co-pilot info lol:

You're hitting a frustrating shift in how CCleaner handles its portable builds, Franco — and it's not just you.
🧨 What's Going On
CCleaner version 7 introduces a more aggressive update and install behavior, even when launched from a portable folder. Here's why it might be trying to overwrite your 6.39 portable setup:
• Piriform has changed how the portable version behaves: Starting with v7, the portable build includes components that auto-launch the installer if it detects an older version or if certain flags/configs are missing.
• Silent fallback to full install: If the portable version can't find its expected environment (like a ccleaner.ini with UpdateCheck=0), it may default to launching the full installer — effectively overwriting your portable setup.
• Bundled updater logic: Some portable builds now include CCUpdate.exe or similar components that run silently and check for updates, even if you didn’t install anything.

Guess it's time to completely beware of and avoid the new CCleaner. I've used it for a long time now and was familiar with how it works. Time to move on.

Same here, just grabbed the portable version of WiseCare 365 as I've used it in the past. If a portable version of CCleaner 7 releases I may switch back but I'm doubtful that will be coming.

From the CCleaner forum...

<<CCleaner 7 is designed to be installed on a machine rather than run as a portable executable. This change has allowed us to improve functionality across various parts of the product.

We know portable matters to some users, so we’re tracking demand through the early rollout. Interest has been lower than expected so far, but we’ll keep monitoring as more people upgrade and factor it into future plans.>>

Well, after reading this thread it looks like CCleaner 6.39 (free) will be the 'end of the road' for me.

What I've done after every update is delete everything in the Program Files folder except what is shown in the attached image, block the 2 executables (CCleaner and CCleaner64) with OneClickFirewall (which I've had for years) and disable and delete the 2 Scheduled Tasks which always reappear after every update.

I'm going to presume 6.39 will work for quite some time (I hope). I've seen where someone is still using a very old version (5.78 I think?) and it still works with Windows 11.

Oh, and I also have 9 Avast and Piriform entries in the Hosts File, had those there for a long time too.
