Browsers and Mail Change Calendar Event Reminders Sound in Outlook for Windows app

This tutorial will show you how to change the sound played for upcoming Calendar event reminders in Outlook for Windows app for your account in Windows 10 and Windows 11.

The new Outlook for Windows brings the latest features, intelligent assisted capabilities and a new modern and simplified design to your Outlook app. You can tailor it to your style and do more with new Outlook for Windows.

You can select to play the default (New Mail Notification system sound), custom, or no sound when there is an upcoming Calendar event in the Outlook for Windows app.

Here's How:

1 Open the Outlook for Windows app.

2 Click/tap on the Settings (gear) icon on the toolbar. (see screenshot below)

3 In Settings, click/tap on General in the left pane, and click/tap on Notifications in the middle pane. (see screenshot below)

4 Under Notify me about, click/tap on Calendar to expand it open. (see screenshots below)

Calendar needs to be turned on to receive event reminders.


5 Select Default, Custom, or None in the Play sound drop menu for what you want.

6 If you selected Custom, navigate to and select a custom sound file (.mp3, .mp4, .wav, .webm, .m4a, or .weba) you want played, and click/tap on Open.

You can click/tap on the Test button to play the selected custom sound file to test before saving your changes.


7 Click/tap on Save to apply.

8 You can now close the Settings window if you like.
