With the advent of Windows 10, 11 and possibly 12 in the coming years, I would opt for newer cleaners.
Old cleaners used way back in the nineties are created by devs using the old way are no longer supported or upgraded. Newer cleaners use cutting-edge, sophisticated solutions designed to protect and optimize the performance of one’s digital devices.
Consider them as a privacy tool that meticulously cleans and optimizes personal computers, external storage devices, and even network-attached storage (NAS). It would be nice if it is compatible with various operating systems such as Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux.
A good cleaner should be highly customizable, allowing users to maintain control over their data and ensures their digital footprint remains minimal, subsequently safeguarding their sensitive information from cyber threats.
It should be capable of meticulous cleaning. The cleaning process should address residual traces left behind by Internet browsing, software usage, and system operations. It should utilize advanced algorithms to identify and eliminate junk files, temporary files, and caches, ultimately freeing up valuable disk space and enhancing system performance.
A big issue is of course the cost of a new cleaner. Most are offered to you only as a subscription software. A one-time payment (perpetual warranty) is a rarity. If you manage to find a good cleaner that comes with a perpetual license, consider yourself lucky.
Just my two cents’ worth!
