I'm using CloneApp to backup settings of all programs that CloneApp can.
Google Chrome was taking a long time to be backed up. I don't have any special settings in Google Chrome.
I deselected Google Chrome from the list of programs to be backed up.

It looks to me like Google Chrome is still being backed up:

And it takes forever!

CloneApp seems quite a useful app. Have you used it to successfully copy AND RESTORE any apps?

I say this because CloneApp is no longer being developed Release CloneApp v2.15.606 · builtbybel/CloneApp
and its author has instead written Appcopier a very similar, if not identical app to CloneApp.

In explaining Appcopier, the author disclosed interesting information about how Microsoft relates its backup apps policy with OneDrive and the Cloud, and how the author circumvents this approach.

I have another interest in such an app is because I am currently reformatting my computer and specifically am looking for a way to transfer Chrome Browser (with Chrome Profiles!!) from the current state of this computer to its new one.

I may have used CloneApp to successfully restore a program's data. I'm not sure.
I just took a look a Appcopier. It doesn't have the extensive list of apps to select or exclude like CloneApp does.
Using AppCopier to backup Firefox appeared to be backing up a ton of data that just isn't needed.
I'm going back to individually backing up program settings as best I can.
Currently, neither CloneApp nor Appcopier is installed on my computer.
