Maybe some one can help me with why my Memory Integrity keeps switching OFF. I know this is an extra layer of protection for the cores and I would like to keep it on but can't figure out why it keeps turning itself OFF all by itself.
I am running Win 11 Preview 22000.593. Along side of Defender I am running Malwarebytes (Premium) which I use as a backup (it's not my default AV, it's Defender).
I switch it on, reboot, and check it afterwards and it's ON. I come back a day or two and check and it's OFF. ???
Has this happened to anyone before me? Just curious. I have a theory that it could be related to the CPU not being compatible so for the time being, I'm leaving it OFF.

Scan Windows 11 system files for corruption by executing Sfc /scannow command.

I would also uninstall MalwareBytes just to make sure its not causing the problem.

I would guess an incompatible program is turning it off automatically without telling you. Some software and old drivers aren't compatible with it. I had to delete an old Western Digital driver on one machine to use it. On my other machine if I want to use Alienware Command Center OC controls I have to disable it. Since I don't overclock I leave memory integrety enabled and have no OC controls.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. The reason I'm asking is because it's not telling me that I do not have incompatible drivers. I checked Device Manager and all is fine. No yellow flags what-so-ever. Clear as a bell. It just turns off by itself after a while, probably when I shutdown and startup again. Can't figure it out so that's why I'm wondering if it could be the incompatible Intel CORE i5 7200U @ 2.50 GHz Kaby Lake - U/Y 14mm Technology I'm running. ???

Any incompatible drivers won't show problems in Device Manager. They are perfectly good drivers for the hardware concerned, it's just that they can't be used with core isolation/Memory integrity.

That is really puzzling. I have had core isolation working reliably and consistently on an unsupported CPU, an Intel Celeron N2930 (Bay Trail) from Q1 2014. Your 7th gen i5-7200U (Kaby Lake) from Q3 2016 should have no problems.

No, it is supposed to be on by default. It will be off only if you have incompatible drivers.

See my post #34 here for how to check,

Didn't know default was on, but yes, I do have what "Windows 11" considers an incompatible driver, but its needed for my printer's RIP program. I need it because "ImagePrint" requires a USB dongle as an anti-piracy measure. Without the dongle you cant activate the software. The dongle also needs to be installed otherwise you get "Demo" written all over your prints!!!

Any incompatible drivers won't show any problems in Device Manager. They are perfectly good drivers for the hardware concerned, it's just that they can't be used with core isolation.
Correct, they don't show as issues in device manager. It's just Core Isolation that's complaining :)

Thanks for all of your help but no one seems to have answered my question, if anyone knows it. Maybe it's not that easy.
When on Win 10, I had it on and it stayed on ALWAYS with no problems and it never turned OFF.
Now on Win 11, I have it turned on (by default) and after a day or two, the slider moves by itself and turns OFF without warning, error nor device problems (at least there are none listed. Same drivers I had in Win 10 as I do in Win 11.
My original question is why? Does anyone have any idea what would cause this?

Update: NOPE! Still turning off by itself. Looks like no one on this forum knows what could be causing this phenomenon. All my drivers are compatible on Win 11 because if they were not, it would tell me. I've got both systems (Win10 and 11) on my PC (Dual Boot) and Win 10 stays on always, Win 11 is the one that keeps shutting off. I'm leaving it off since it won't stay on. Dagnabit.

Just a long shot, but are you positive the driver wdcsam64_prewin8.sys is not installed on your system? It's a major cause of memory integrity not working and I see HP users that had the problem due to that driver. I know it should show as the cause but maybe it's just not showing under your memory integrity switch. I had to delete it from my Surface laptop to turn mine on.

No. I have checked and it's not on my system. As I stated above, I can turn it on and it stays on. After a couple of days or three, I look back and it's off. And in Windows 10 I do not have that problem. And they're the same drivers, so it's not that.

I was looking into maybe turning this on and find I have the wdcsam64_prewin8.sys driver - is it safe to just delete it ?
That driver is for my WD external Hard drive.
I do have wdcsam64.sys on the system as well, and wdcsam64.sys in the driver repository.
I am also using an HP PC here. That file along with another driver was 'flagged' when I tried to turn on Core Integ.

The other file Is for HmseUsb.sys published by oem89.inf driver 1.1.9.0 dated 6/30/2010 by Renasas Electronics Don't know what that is for, not researched it yet.

Any unique software or hardware you use in Win 11 you don't use in Win 10? Just asking cause it sounds like it gets turned off when something activates in eleven.

If your actually using a WD external drive you may need it and it may just reinstall when you plug it in. I and others had no need for it and it was just hindering the use of memory integrity.

Yes, perfectly safe. Apparently that driver is only ever required if you use the WD encryption software supplied with some of their drives.

When 11 was released on 5th October it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update.
