Solved CPU not compatible with Windows 11

I may be alone in my simple opinion of all this gloom and doom about this Windows 11 upgrade fiasco that Microsoft has put on the the world but here goes...and it's not a fiasco at all. It's business. In 2015, when Win10 came out, MS spoiled millions of users by offering an upgrade free for the first time. No matter how a system was equipped, most any computer would run it, thereby giving any old computer an extra 10 years of supported life. In a nutshell, that meant that a system built in 2009 could run fully supported fat and happy for 16 years at no cost to its owner. The masses were ecstatic. We weren't just getting something for free, but the support that came along with it.

Fast forward 6 years. The masses are up in arms against MS who has the audacity to put restrictions on being able to ugrade to Windows 11 despite the fact they are allowing us to clean install it FOR FREE on unsupported hardware AT OUR OWN RISK instead of flat-out encoding the Windows 11 iso so that it would absolutely not install. They could have done that, but didn't. It's been proven that it works. It's been proven you still get updates. Now everyone is worried that they will get up one morning and either they don't get updates or Windows 11 won't work at all. I can't see why anyone is worried about that. Could it happen? Sure. But what company would make a business decision that would alienate it's customer base when that same company has been giving us free stuff since 2015 and is allowing us to install it in the first place.

Was I happy when I found out that none of my three machines qualified for the upgrade? You bet I wasn't. They are all strong i5 and i7 machines without one thing wrong with them. But after I settled down and thought about it, I realized that MS is a business who has to make business decisions whether they be popular or not.

I started this post so I just want to say one thing: My early 2017 HP ENVY with Intel i5 Core [email protected] GHz Kaby Lake is running just dandy with Win 11 BETA and couldn't feel more solid. A lot faster than Win 10 21H2.

So what's the best way to install if I am "hopping" as well? Do I have to mess with the Registry so it ignores the checks like I remember reading when I first looked in to this?

Clean install use rufus new version it makes it super easy all you need is a ms 11 iso

Create bootable Windows 11 ISO without TPM, Secure Boot and RAM requirements.

Upgrading is my personal favorite and all you need to have is the 11 iso
Disconnect from the internet
Mount the 11 iso
Run setup.exe as administrator

Save apps and personal files option
After the installer flags you incompatible
Explorer ribbon show hidden files on the view tab or folder options.

Open C/ $windows-BT/ Sources
Scroll down the list and select appraiserres.dill and delete it.

Once that is done go back to the error message and hit Back
Then next and the installer will start the upgrade process.

I didn't have to do it this way. I have ALL the requirements EXCEPT my CPU. I just downloaded the ISO and opened it.

Hi,
CPU only still ms requires a registry edit Brink has a reg file to do it.
Just deleting appraiserres.dill is easier than falling off a log though lol

One is a protected system file the other is just a temporary hidden file
I'd rather just do the temp hidden file personally

I didn't edit a thing when I installed Windows 11 on both my backup system and laptop, both of which have "unsupported" CPU's.

I simply joined the Insider's and installed via updating Windows 10 to 11. No reg hacks, no fancy tricks. All good.

My main rig being fully compliant with Windows 11, I just did a clean install using the Media Creation Tool to create a USB install.

I read that the best way was to install with the iso because I tried with windows update and it got stuck at 62% install. Any who, it works and running great.

Well, my "actual experience" with a USB install went as smooth as any others. And because of that I haven't done an ISO install in years.
