Apps Create Copilot Desktop Shortcut in Windows 11

This tutorial will show you how to create a Copilot app desktop shortcut for your account in Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Microsoft Copilot is an AI-powered digital assistant designed to help you with a range of tasks and activities.

When you sign in to Copilot with your Microsoft account Copilot uses your Microsoft account to provide personalized assistance and access by default to a wide range of features. For example, saving and syncing your Copilot chat history on all devices you sign in to Copilot with the same Microsoft account.


Here's How:

1 Open the Start menu :win:, and click/tap on All apps. (see screenshot below)

2 Drag the Copilot app from All apps to your desktop until you see Link above the icon you are dragging, then drop the Copilot app on the desktop. (see screenshot below)

3 You can also Pin to Taskbar, Pin to Start, assign a keyboard shortcut to, or move this shortcut to where you like for easy usage.

I don't know if I have Copilot in-build. I using latest build of Windows 11. I have no Copilot in the Taskbar. I'm not from U.S, I live in Sweden could that be the reason?

Its like the Widgets icon in settings! Useless. A workaround is better. Frustrating when it never shows up.

Its likely not rolled out to your part of the world yet.

"The initial markets for the Copilot in Windows preview include North America, United Kingdom and parts of Asia and South America. It is our intention to add additional markets over time."

Our friend can always go with Microsoft Edge to the Microsoft Copilot website, install it as an app and pin it to the taskbar.
No geographical restrictions exist on running it as opposed to the built-in Windows preview side pane.

So you can make a desktop icon, turn off the task bar one to get rid of it from the right hand end - but can’t pin it to the taskbar where you want - is that right?

You can pin it to the taskbar and arrange its order within the other pinned icons where you like. :alien:

Please read the previous posts and you'll see you can pin it and move it around the taskbar.

The default Microsoft Copilot preview button is set at the right hand of the taskbar. With the explorer shortcut, you can drag the Microsoft Copilot icon anywhere on the taskbar you want it to be.
