Desktop source changed

Sorry if the title is confusing
My PC Desktop source(?) is C:\windows\Users\xxxxxx\OneDrive\desktop. Or, it was. Rebooted last night. Most apps/files on the desktop are gone. Just a few remaining.
I have found the apps on my PC desktop are now at C:\windows\Users\Public\Public Desktop.
How did that happen? More importantly, how do I restore C:\windows\Users\xxxxxx\OneDrive\desktop as the source for my desktop apps/files?

Just noticed something else. Don't know if it's relevant.
On my Tray(?) I have a Onedrive icon with a slash through it. Hovering over it shows "Not signed in." Click on it, sign in, and I see 'Current Location: C:\windows\Users\xxxxxx\OneDrive' which is correct. But the tray icon still shows "Not signed in."

I wont allow onedrive near my systems, it behaves like a virus.
