It's probably those bluetooth files again.
That's been happening for 4 months or so on 24H2.

You can upgrade to 25H2 in 3 seconds and a reboot if you want.
The problem doesn't seem to happen in 25H2.

For 3 years I keep getting re-directed to Bing? & it's not in my Chrome? I'll wait my turn for 25H2.... thanks for the tip.. cheers 24H2 (OS Build 26100.6725)

If you are using Chrome, and you are not getting redirected using Chrome, Where are you getting redirected to Bing? As Bing search is only in your Browser?

To change your default search engine in Chrome, open the browser, click the three dots in the top right corner, go to "Settings," then select "Search engine" and choose your preferred search engine from the list. You can also add a new search engine if it's not listed

Are you sure about that. I believe you are infected by a bing-redirect virus that affects chrome. Most likely cause is one of your extensions or came along with a third party app. Basically find and remove the offending extension/app and set Chrome settings back to default.

good info !!! 1 of my extensions was WOT, AI says: "If you see "Bing in Chrome" while using a Website Security & Safety Checker, it most likely means you have a browser hijacker installed on your computer. This is a type of malware that forces your browser to use Bing for searches, often by changing your default settings." Three Full mailware scans come up clean. This does happen when I upgrade Chrome {like today: Version 141.0.7390.55 } Three years ago I would get re-directed to bing several times a month. Two years ago - a few times a year - This year It would happen unpredictability maybe 3 times a year?
So now I got a direction to to lok at -remove - cleanup - ect... Thank all for the info !!!!!!!

Must have went over my head....... later people.....

what search engine do you normally use?

i use duckduckgo as my default and have the duckduckgo search & tracker extension installed which locks Edge/Chrome to duckduckgo so it cant be interfered with or changed unless i disable the extension.

i am unsure if other search engines have such an extension.

I use google. Or pretty much have a dozen bookmarks Woke up this morning - (shut off the wifi on the laptop, shut off the laptop power) and all my bookmarks were gone.? (good that I save them 3 times a week on thumbdrives)
BTW: ESET picked up a proxy virus.... it's in Quarantine now.

If you sign into your Browser, your bookmarks will be available on all devices you sign into.

Also, Chrome bookmarks are stored in the profile directory on your computer, specifically in the path: C:\Users%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default. In this folder, you'll find two files named "Bookmarks" and "Bookmarks.bak," where the latter is a backup of your bookmarks.

Yea! but it didn't work? So I went into chrome & hit Import Bookmarks. On other computers I've done the above & it worked. (this laptop has a curse on it)
