The ones that are supposed to be compatible with my sound card is having an issue.

Someone suggested using the Microsoft High Definition audio device driver. When I click on it I am getting a warning message that says it might not be compatible and that installing it could permanently damage my system. Is that warning being overly cautious or could that happen?

Someone also suggested another Realtek driver. I only found it on ASUS's website. Is there a risk with using this one? Is it only for an ASUS system?

Realtek* High Definition Audio Driver for Windows® 10 & Windows 11* for Windows® 10 64-bit for NUC9VXQNX, NUC9V7QNX, NUC9i9QNX, NUC9i7QNX, NUC9i5QNX

Some folks can lead you wrong. On a NEW system of that calibre I definitely would not use the MS sound driver or an Asus driver..
The ones that are supposed to be compatible with my sound card is having an issue.
Answer these very important questions please.
What kind of issue are you having? What makes you think it is a driver problem? This is a new machine. Has the sound ever worked properly?
You should be running this driver from the Lenovo support page.

If it were me, I would not do anything that might negate my warranty. Have you contacted Lenovo support?

I did contact Lenovo. No help.

Can installing a driver negate a warranty?

Can installing a driver negate a warranty?
One would think not, but If one sent a machine back to Lenovo with an Asus driver installed it certainly could give them a reason to deny warranty.
I did contact Lenovo. No help.
That sounds unusual. Is that machine under warranty? Exactly what did they tell you? Exactly what did you tell them?
You have to get past first level support of any of the OEMs in order to be helped.
You are entirely too vague in describing any of the specifics of your problem. You still did not answer the questions I asked.
We need all the information you can provide us before we can give the proper advise..
Work with me here. This is like pulling teeth.

Popping sound when audio begins. Not during playback.

Tried changing all the settings. Thinking a registry fix might be the solution if not drivers.

A speaker making a pop sound is caused by a surge of power. It may be a wiring issue with the speakers. Your driver may be corrupted. Software can also be interfering. To find out what it is you will have to use the process of elimination in order to narrow it down. Here are some things to try in no particular order.

If that PC also has Intel Display audio installed, disable it temporarily and test using only the Realtek.

Though you are running the latest OEM Realtek driver, I would uninstall Realtek audio using device manager. Be sure to check the box to remove the driver Reboot. You should then be running the Microsoft driver by default. Test your sound. It will sound tinny but you can see if you get the popping sound. If you do, it would point to a hardware or software issue, not a driver. Reinstall the Realtek driver from Lenovo site. Restart. If popping goes away, then your driver had gotten corrupted.
https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/...Audio&id=3AA7F1C4-5B2A-453C-9CE2-B8FCDA8B69BA

Prove that it is not a speaker issue by testing with headphones.

See if it happens in quick clean boot. If it does not, you have some software conflict. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts

You did not say if this issue exists only in your browser. If that be so, disable hardware acceleration in your browser and test.
Each browser has different settings so do a web search for how to do that in your particular browser. Then restart your browser.

Hope you can isolate the issue.

To keep your drivers up to date use the Lenovo Vantage App and Windows Updates.

Some if not most Lenovo updates will come via Windows Updates.

Audio drivers are complicated by overlaying Audio Apps, on mine they are Nahimic and Lenovo Smart Noise cancellation.

If you have made a mess you can download the Recovery Media from Lenovo and update sensibly.

"Popping sound when audio begins. Not during playback."
Need a lot more detail than that to suggest anything.

Manually driver updates I cannot comment on as you have not given the full product number and/or detailed hardware and supplied drivers/software.
The safest course is to never install audio drivers/apps from other PC/Laptop manufacturers.
