[DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (AMD 5xx/6xx/8xx & Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx/8xx)

I have been digging to find out what the problem is and my research as led me to it being associated with my Audio drivers and Sonic software. When I installed Windows 10 Pro 64 initially, I let Windows update install as many drivers as it wanted too, then I proceeded to install ASUS Drivers from their website. Chipset/Audio/WIFI & Blue tooth.

I want to now do a fresh install of Win 10 Pro 64. I read through the 1st page of this thread, and I want to make sure I understand something before I go through the hassle. I will install Windows 10 Pro, then I should install an Audio driver 1st before I allow Windows 10 Updates to try and install something I don’t want, and what I should install 1st is the Audio driver on the 1st page so I don’t get all of that Bloatware and I don’t get that “Nahimic” installed? Is that all I really need to do for Audio drivers? And is the correct file:

Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) :

Drivers : 6.3.9600.2355 WHQL [09/03/2023]

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

if you have noticed issues which the root cause is that SS3 APO Drivers (of which Nahimic Service) interfering with some of your apps, first try to disable SS3 effects, if issues persists, uninstall SS3 app, if issues still persists, just follow this post : [DRIVERS] Realtek USB Audio (Intel 5xx/6xx/7xx & AMD 5xx/6xx/TRX40).

Thank you for the response. I did initially follow the instructions in the 1st post. One of the things in that was that I couldnt locate the file ("AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.3.9600.xxxx\Drivers") which is fine. I just want to do a fresh install at this point and install a driver that wont give me all of that crap that causes problems. So back to my original question.

Correct (and this for all your drivers, not just audio).

Again, as I told you in my previous post, you need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread (you cannot choose a drivers package type, each drivers package type is dedicated to each motherboards type).

Know that If you want avoid install of your SS3 app/drivers you will lose the hardware audio processing performed by the SS3 APO (which avoids CPU resource hogging for audio processing) and your equalizer (it is by design, it's intended to work like this at least for ASUS products : If third party app/drivers are built-in, the equalization is done via the third party app/drivers). That is why I don't recommend directly avoid install of SS3 drivers before you first tried to disable SS3 effects and uninstall SS3 app.

If you still want avoid install of your SS3 app/drivers anyway :

- Delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.3.9600.xxxx\Drivers\USBAud\Win64\ThirdParty folder then follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process (without installing SS3 apps).

For the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow the UPDATE process (always after having delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_USB_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.3.9600.xxxx\Drivers\USBAud\Win64\ThirdParty folder).

Thanks for the response. I still need clarification. I am trying to avoid the installation of this "Nahimic". I dont even really know what that is except for a problem. And If i read what you said correctly, "Nahimic" is installed with SS3, correct or not?
This statement is VERY confusing to me? I dont know if you mean to install SS3 or not?

It was very unclear to me how to disable effects in SS3. As a matter of fact, when I uninstalled SS3, "Nahimic" was still installed? I dont know anything about any 3rd party software that may have been running for Audio? I only downloaded the Audio Driver and ran it, and maybe Windows update added something else?

SS3 (Sonic Studio III) app/drivers = Nahimic app/drivers for ASUS products.

Whether if you don't install SS3 app or if you uninstall SS3 app, SS3 drivers keep installed/used as explained previously (for the hardware audio processing performed by the SS3 APO).

If you have already tried to don't install/to uninstall the SS3 app and that SS3 drivers still interfering with your VoiceAttack software, follow what I told you my previous post to avoid install of SS3 drivers.

This has nothing to do with Windows Update, the audio drivers packages from your motherboard support page or from Armoury Crate directly install all your audio apps (Realtek Audio Control/Console + Sonic Studio III + Sonic Radar III + DTS Sound Unbound) without giving you the choice unlike my audio drivers packages which only installs the audio drivers.

Ok, I think Im following. By the way, I disabled the Armory Crate option in the BIOS prior to installing Windows because I didn’t want that stuff installed.

So your file: Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) :

Drivers : 6.3.9600.2355 WHQL [09/03/2023]

Will install 2 things:

-SS3 (Sonic Studio III) app, which has “Nahimic app” (Which appears to have been the problem with my Audio and VoiceAttack.) which is used for hardware audio processing. If I install this and I have problems, I can uninstall it BUT it will still keep some needed drivers installed to maintain hardware audio processing. Correct?

-The 2nd item in your file install’s Audio drivers as well “drivers for ASUS products”

Where does this “DTS” come into play? I seen that in the “ADD & REMOVE” programs section before as well. Is that part of the SS3 package? I see it in your file name.

I seem to have offended you? I apologize but it seems you may have mis-interpreted my inquiry. I admit I am not tech savvy enough to understand the details of these drivers and software. I have been digging for a resolution for a few weeks and I wound up here. I can assure you it was not my intent to abuse anyone. I suspect there may also be a translation matter here as well? In either case, I appreciate your assistance up to this point, I will attempt to find another place to try and answer, what I hope to be, my last questions as I am still not as clear as I probably need to be before I attempt a fresh install. I’m not bothering with ASUS, I tried that route, they don’t support anything more than installing their drivers and Bloatware. Thank you again for getting me at least this far sir.

I don't think anyone was offended. MoKiChU is here to give us up-to-date drivers for ASUS motherboards and that's all. Many people throughout the years have relied on MoKiChU's list of drivers and does a great job but explaining something over and over gets exhausting. You might be able to search for an answer on the ROG forums where MoKiChU's posts originated.

Thanks for the response, I can certainly understand that explaining something over and over would be annoying! The only thing I can say to that is that I havnt asked the same thing over and over. I received some basic responses initially, and I was attempting to get a more refined understanding of the components, which had not been provided up to that point from what I can see. I realize that alot of people already have knowledge of these matters, and dont need any clarification. I started out with a problem, and thinking it was a simple matter of a driver, during the course of my inquiry, I learned that there were actually several components involved. None of which I completely understood, so i was trying to understand the breakdown so I could attempt to resolve the rest of the way. I made it to near the end, then fell off the cliff. Now I have to figure out how these 3 components play together so I can try and figure out what I should eliminate from install to fix the problem. Thanks for your advise.

On Asus's official driver page, their release states "Special version for SS3 Virtual Mixer disabled for better stability." Are the versions here also disabling that virtual mixer?

Also, if I disable SS3 effects (I have an analog output 5.1 system so I don't need virtual surround), do I still get the benefit of hardware audio processing from the SS3 APO? And do I still get a working equalizer?

I just acquired an Asus Z790 Apex so just doing my due diligence. I don't mind having the A-Volute/Nahimic stuff as long as I can keep it inactive but still benefit from the hardware SS3 APO processing.

Of course, just disable the SS3 effects and switch the Equalizer settings to Custom (or the EQ profile you want) in SS3 app.

I have a question which I hope you can advice upon. I install Windows on different spec systems daily. Usally I use inject drivers by inf files. Would these drivers you provide be suitable for inf injection and due to so many varies of asus motherboards would you trust it would select the correct inf files required for that selected motherboard if I didn't manually point it to the correct driver folder. Hope that makes sence. Thanks for any help.

Since I only offer OEM original drivers, WHQL signed by Microsoft, all the drivers that I offer (audio or not) are suitable for inf injection.

The audio drivers in A-Volute/ThirdParty folders are required to take advantage of all your audio features.

If you avoid install of the audio drivers from A-Volute/ThirdParty folders, you will lose the hardware audio processing performed by the third party APO (which avoids CPU resource hogging for audio processing) and you will lose the equalizer (it is by design, it's intended to work like this at least for ASUS products : If third party drivers are built-in, the equalization is done by the third party APO even if the third party app is not installed). That is why I don't recommend avoid install of the audio drivers in A-Volute/ThirdParty folders, if you don't want the third party app/features/effects, just disable the third party features/effects or don't install/uninstall the third party app.

Hello Moc. I was wondering what the difference is between the Realtek Audio and the Realtek USB Audio threads is since they both cover Intel 7xx chipsets. I have an Asus ROG Maximus Z790 Hero and I want to know what the correct audio drivers are to install. Also, are any of the bloatware apps neccesary and any of them help in any way? Or can I just install the driver and the small realtek app and be done with it?

The difference is the internal audio interface used. ASUS motherboards will use the USB internal audio interface for mainly 2 scenarios :

- Go beyond the limitations of the traditional audio interface (which supports up to 32-Bit/192kHz) and in order to be able to use ALC408x codec to supports up to 32-Bit/384 kHz.
- By motherboard chipset limitation in the case of AMD TRX40-based motherboards which does not allow the use of the traditional audio interface.

You can just install the Realtek Audio Control app, but know that you will not have any EQ in it, the EQ is in Sonic Studio III app (by design).
