Experiment:
* Installed EndeavourOS (EOS) Linux on my system.
* Installed VirtualBox in Linux
* Downloaded Microsoft Windows 11 24H2 ISO to install as a guest OS in VirtualBox.
* Updated Windows 11 24H2 to OS version 26100.2454.
In Windows 11 24H2 26100.2454 I could not get the Canon printer to always print correctly, and the scanner would not work at all. Refer to my message here: W11 24H2 eSCL "BUG" causing havoc.
In EOS, I installed VirtualBox and then installed Windows 11 24H2 26100.2454 with all updates. The guest OS uses a bridge network connection. I installed the Canon Color imageCLASS MF654Cdw printer using the drivers on the web site. The results from the Canon printer and scanner I did not expect. The Canon printer prints great through this setup. I experienced no printing problems. When I installed the Canon MF Scan Utility and tried to scan a document, the scanner works. The Canon scanner scanned a test document without any problems or errors. The scanning seems faster through this setup. I did not expect this to scan.
Actually, Windows 11 24H2 performance/speed in VirtualBox seems slightly faster than it run on the actual hardware.
I used a VirtualBox snapshot restore back to Windows 11 23H2, and the Canon scanner still works (23H2 never had a problem). I upgraded Windows 11 23H2 to 24H2 in the VirtualBox guest OS, and the Canon scanner continued to work without any errors or problems.
Now I am wondering why it works through a VirtualBox guest OS session and not on actual hardware. VirtualBox does not do anything with printers or scanners.
