Does anyone know if I can back up my canon printer & scanner app settings?

Hi, soon I am going to be doing a new installation of Windows 11 on a new SSD.

I have a Canon TS700 printer and a Canon LiDE 400 Scanner.

I don't see any options within their software to export settings, but does any know if there is a settings file or folder I could get a copy of to copy back to restore the settings?

That feature would (should) be in the app settings (apps for the devices) themselves. If not, you could find the folder those programs reside in and try and find the settings to backup.

Sorry, I don't have any of those devices, so you'll have to look yourself.

FWIW I have a Canon Pro 100 printer and my printer profile settings are in C:\ProgramData\CanonBJ\IJPrinter\CNMWINDOWS\Canon PRO-100 series XPS in the file [account name].pst

That should give you a clue what to look for. I keep a copy of that pst file so I can recover my settings if I update the printer driver.

I would just take a screenshot of each settings tab and use it for reference to reconfigure the devices after installation. If the settings are not too many, I could also make a text file describing the values in each tab, so I could then copy-paste them instead of typing back.

Aren't the settings saved in the printer itself?

He probably means custom settings in the printer driver like default trat, paper size, cover page (if any) and custom page sizes. These are not saved in the printer.

I have a Canon AIO (TS 5100 series), it has the ScanGear app for the scanner part. Works/used on both Win 10 and 11 Laptops.

Windows10

C:\ProgramData\CanonIJScan\SUTS5100 series_info.ini

Plain TXT.

Does not seem to exist in Windows 11, folders, files are different names, though the settings are saved somewhere for sure.

Maybe under C:\ProgramData\ in a DAT file
or under USER\AppData\ area. Also in a DAT file

I just use the ScanGear app to change the default settings, it's obviously quicker/easier as things have changed.

The Printer settings copying over is a waste of time as those you are going to set in your applications anyway, and there are far fewer settings.

The OP might check their user profile. My printer settings appear to be under C:\Users\(user name)\AppData\Roaming\Epson

That said, I cannot confirm this to be true, because I've not tested that, nor am I willing to delete those just to test.

In Windows 10/11 some settings are stored in user folder instead. Have a look in C:\Users\accountname\AppData\Local or Roaming folders. If you backup these folders and copy-paste them in the respective locations BEFORE installing the printer software, you could restore your settings. I would also backup any relevant folder in C:\ProgramData and Program Files just in case.
