I have 2 Dell 15.6" laptops: 1st. one is an i7 with 16GB memory. 2nd. one is an i5 with 8GB memory.
Both are Dell 15 - 3511 models set up with Dell D3000 docking ports. These ports are not USB-C equipped.
You can not start the computer from the docking station since it does not power the laptop.
The dock & monitor are all hooked to USB-A 3.0 ports. 2 power supplies are used, 1 for laptop & 1 for dock.
When starting the computers, if the ViewSonic monitor is powered on the display will never start.
In order to get the system up & operating I have to stop/turn off the laptop, turn off the power
to the monitor, wait until the laptop powers down & stops. Then I can open the laptop case, press the start button,
wait until the laptop is fully operational and it gives me a beep sound.
After this beep, I can close the lid of the laptop and turn on power to the monitor. It will then boot up to the
display normally and can be used.
What the Heck is going on here ?
