Hi everyone,

I updated to 23H2 and then reset my machine, as I had a few minor issues and it was getting slow. The fingerprint sensor was working perfectly. Since I reset I have been having trouble with the fingerprint sensor. If I set up Windows Hello it will work a few times then the sensor will stop working.

I have tried - Uninstalling the driver in device manager and rebooting, manually installing an driver, blocking driver updates in the group policy editor, turning Hello off and reconfiguring.

Nothing I have tried works.

Can anyone help? Cheers.

The only thing I can suggest ATM, is that you uninstall the fingerprint reader drivers, reboot and allow Windows to install fresh drivers. You seem to have done that, but it cant hurt to try it again.

The alternative would be to go to the readers' manufacturers website and download the latest drivers directly from them and then install them or go to your computer manufacturers website and grab them there.

If you are unsuccessful after installing the new drivers, go to Start > All Apps > Feedback Hub and leave feedback about your issue.

Make sure you include relevant details like Computer Make/Model, reader model, etc...

Let us know the details of your feedback and we will up vote it for you so that Microsoft pay attention :)

Sorry, where I said manually installing an update I meant driver from Lenovo.

I just left feedback on Feedback Hub, with the same title as this thread.

Cheers

What reader do you use?, mine works fine it’s a Benss UA002D Reader. Did you make sure you have Windows Hello enabled, when the reader is not working?

I am on a Lenovo Edge 15 laptop. In device manager the fingerprint sensor is called "Goodix fingerprint"

There are a number of different issues reported with the Goodix device. See if suggestions in this thread are of any help. In that case updating bios seemed to solve it.

My fingerprint sensor is a bit dozy, especially after a boot or restart. I find tapping the spacebar a few times while my finger is on the sensor can help.
