Yesterday I got the update and like others I lost all the icons on my taskbar and no start menu. I followed the instructions to fix it but it says the system cannot find the path specified ( HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\IrisService /f && shutdown -r -t 0)

I would like to roll it back to the way it was before this update. It's so hard when I can't open what I want. I tried to search for settings etc.. but I can't even do a search.

Would appreciate any help. I'm not real technical but can usually follow instructions. Thank you.

There's an alternate way to fix the missing-taskbar-and-no-start-menu issue.

To bring up Task Manager, press <Ctrl>+<Shift>+<Esc>

To open Control Panel in Task Manager go to the top menu: File > Run new task > type in: Control Panel

To restart the computer gracefully (i.e. not just powering down and re-starting):

Bring up Task Manager again and: File > Run new task > type in: shutdown.exe /r /f /t 00

Once Win 11 finishes rebooting, you should be back to normal.

Thank you so much wpcoe. I am away from that laptop at the moment. I will try this and let you know how it goes. Give me an hour or so.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to get back to you. Your suggestions didn't work at first. When windows came back nothing on the taskbar. So this morning I was fooling around with it and trying a way into 'settings' to try and do a 'restore' and just out of nowhere my icons were all on the taskbar. WOW I am a happy camper now.
Thank you so much for taking the time to help me out. Much appreciated. 😌

Just restarting the machine was not able to fix my machine either, I specifically had to removing the registry key before restarting the machine for everything to get back to normal.

Glad you were able to find another way to do it - just be sure to check your WIndows 11 build, because if you reverted to an odler build, you might get the newer one pushed again and may run into the issue again.
