I finally settled on this Winamp theme:
Winamp Skin.png

It's a clean theme in my preferred color and tells me everything I need to know. The only thing it's missing is the album art, but I don't need that. It was just something I ignored. I like that Winamp has an equalizer you can manipulate should you choose as well.

I find it much easier to have it on my computer as I don't really leave it too much. All my music is right at my fingertips. I do have my favorite music on my iPhone so I can listen to it when I go somewhere, but that's only once a week if that. Plus, like many others, I have a ton of music, some of which I don't listen to on a regular basis. I could purchase cloud space and put all my music there, but I'm too old and just don't trust it. Plus, why pay for something like that when you can store it on your computer?

I get most of my music already in digital format nowadays. The music I converted into digital music occurred so long ago, and I've lost most of those CDs in various moves. Too many CDs to move as well. A portable SSD is nothing to move. If I do buy a CD and rip it, I sometimes give the CD away. Never used Deezer.

Not a fan of Amazon Prime, In the UK they offer free next day delivery and it looks like they up their prices to compensate

Not a fan of Amazon Prime, In the UK they offer free next day delivery and it looks like they up their prices to compensate
I haven't had that issue. Prime is good for the 2 day delivery, music and movies. Erin likes it as well.. movies!

Okay. I've finally settled on this Winamp skin with the Lyrics plugin. It has everything I could want including the ability to change skin colors and cover art.

Winamp Purple Skin.png

I figure any lyric tool that can find Collide's remake of "The Lunatics Have Taken Over the Asylum" is alright! There is no cover of this Collide CD that's ever been pulled by a digital music player, but that's okay. I dig the llama!

Does this player support online broadcasts, like Amarok?

I'm using WMP now, but I want a basic music player (dark), no checking online for album art, groups, authors, etc.
To make a playlist I just want to be able to point it at a folder. I want shuffle also.

Lastly I want it to show the music like it looks on an oscilloscope (preferably green on a dark background).
This is what music looks like on an Oscope...
Image1.png

THAT'S IT... I don't want it to be complicated, and I don't want it to look like it came from the Win 95 days.

Is there a music player out there that will do this, and not much else.

I'm a HUGE MediaMonkey fan. Have you ever tried it?
Or is that something that you classify as complicated?

Well, maybe this will help... this is Keppi.

It does exactly what I want (and is portable), except I can't set it to "shuffle" my music files, and the top and bottom bars should be darker...

The waveform is more complex (harmonics and such), but this is all print screen can show. :)
Image1.png

I have about 300 music files... but it can only play them in order. :/

I like this program... it doesn't try to access the internet, it's portable.
The things I don't like are the white bars, top and bottom, and the fact that I can't set it to play my music randomly... aka shuffle.

I almost like WMP, except the Trilogy visualization breaks after the first song on my playlist. Then I have to fast forward one song, to get the visualization back.
It'd also be nice if the visualization was higher resolution.
