Windows 11 Version 25H2
Hi guys. My laptop currently has Windows 11 24H2 installed, and I primarily use my laptop for gaming. I have been reading online that the Assassin's Creed Origins, Odyssey, and Valhalla don't work well with 24H2 installed. It has been more than 10 days since I installed 24H2, and therefore I can't roll back as far as I know. Is there a way I can go back to 23H2, or should I stay on 24H2? Help and thoughts greatly appreciated :)

You cannot go back to 23H2 and keep all your installed apps, now the 10 days has passed it has to be a clean install.

You've read of gaming issues but have you seen them yourself? Tomorrow is Patch Tuesday and 24H2 will get a new cumulative update. There are 'Known Issues' acknowledged by MS. Wait and see if the issues will be addressed in the December CU.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.
Officially, you'd have to do a clean install of 23H2.

If there's a hack that would permit you to do an "upgrade" install of 23H2 over 24H2, I don't know of it.

There won't be one. The 24H2 Feature Update was a complete replacement of all system files, unlike the 23H2 update which was just an Enablement package, turning on disabled feature in the existing system files.

No, stay with 24H2 and wait either a Windows Update or game patch to fix any issues.

    Legacy MBR installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot, no WDDM 2.0 graphics drivers, no SSE4.2, cannot get more unsupported ;) This is only my test laptop. I had installed Windows 11 here before upgrading my main PC. For my main PC I use everyday see my 2nd system specs.

No, even if you have issues MS has acknowledged them and is working on a fix, it could be as soon as tomorrow's Patch Tuesday update.

Yea, I wouldn't go through that now that you've made the switch. It will probably get fixed sooner than later.

You're willing to do a clean install? Re-installing all software? Possibly many gigabytes of games?

If it was me, I'd hope that either MS or the game publishers would patch the problems, sooner rather than later. I imagine they will; gaming is a huge market.

You cannot easily go back to 23H2 once that 10 days has passed, as the Windows Old folder gets deleted.
The best course of action is probably to wait until Ubisoft updates those titles presumably in conjunction with MS.

One of those titles is one of the blocks on my Laptop and never been offered 24H2.

In Windows Updates you should toggle OFF "Get the latest updates as soon as they're available".

No, definitely not, just stick with 24H2, and wait, of course occasionally checking with Ubisoft. Nothing as of yesterday.

I wouldn't recommend it unless YOU ARE having a problem with the 24H2 installed on your machine.

Tried 24H2 three times , costed me several programs/software I liked , " received" Copilot , AI , and lots of other "smart " software , I dont want/use . Reading the forums show lots of errors /bugs , while my 23H2 runs perfectly !................
24H2 is a nogo for me , maybe later ? :wink:

Why not clean install 23H2 in a native dual boot virtual hard drive, so you can install specific games with 23H2 but leave your current 24H2 intact?

Um, where does it say that the issues with AC Odyssey/Valhalla in Windows 11 24H2 were fixed with this Driver? I thought that the issues were with 24H2 alone... Clarification and further help appreciated :)
