Has anyone been playing with Windows Pacakage Manager (winget)?

I'm not sure why I didn't play with this sooner, but this is really amazing and can make clean installs way easier. Yes, I know Linux has done this forever. Yes, I also know of alternatives such as Chocolatey but it's nice to see this built into the OS.

I tend to make some really long posts, but let me just keep this brief and whet your appetite by suggesting you try this:

Open an elevated command prompt.
Run these commands:

winget list (list installed apps)
winget upgrade (lists apps with available updates)
winget upgrade --all (CAUTION: This one will actually install updates for anything having an available update)

Nice thing is you can script this and have a ton of apps installed automatically by just running a single batch file.

WinGetUI 3rd party UI, been using it for a while, very good (NB you have to close some programs manually before updating.)

A major drawback is you can't run it during Windows post-setup (as SYSTEM), because it's UWP and requires a normal user context.

While you can run it from a RunOnce or logon task, the console window can be stopped if you give it input focus and hit space by accident. If you're not paying close attention, winget sits there until you hit space again.

Yeah I also noticed that it installs in the user space by default. Not sure whether there is a workaround for a system-wide installation.
