Has OneDrive gone insane?!

For me an irreplaceable advantage of OneDrive over a Bank deposit box is real-time updates. I work continuously throughout the day, and I don't want to lose even a single byte of what I'm working on as I'm working on it. I also work with two computers that are both logged in to the same Microsoft Account and thus the same OneDrive. Both computers always have exactly the same data locally updated in real-time as I work. I can transparently move between the two computers without missing a beat. In my trading work that's irreplaceable security.

I need more popcorn!!!

My question was not about 'big tech' having access to your data but legal authority via a valid warrant.

Well then, I guess we'd better shut down all the other agreements with agencies such as Interpol. The idea that this is only America that uses data seems a bit specious. Anyhow, this forum is really not the venue for this sort of discussion.

If you read what the Cloud Act is, then it say the US government with a warrant to US big tech has access to cloud data even on foreign soil servers.
That include all American company's that have a server on other countries.

So if i speak out about Trump.. he get mad and tell the FBI to fetch my data he can.
That is wrong
US Government should not have access to my data... also big-tech should not have access to my data to use for their AI training etc.

I dont dislike Windows.. I dislike Microsoft policy's
Europol dont go after US people that commit crimes in US.. So why should US go after EU people that commit crimes in EU.

I am not one to step on other people's personal preferences with respect to ethics. Sometimes one simply knows when something is just flat out wrong. Given what these data bases have been doing with the data they collect and store as a "service" I would rather take my chances on a house fire than risk my personal content in their care or rather the lack thereof. But again, this is a matter of personal preference. One needn't be an IT to set up a home server. There are plenty of "how to" videos available for this. My daughter set up a server when she was 11. How hard can it be?

One here would argue that there are examples where authorities have a legitimate need to access an owner's data. Whatever the need it cannot justify breaching the privacy of others when they not engaging in criminal behaviour. This was one of Mr. Snowden's biggest arguments. The issue with authorities and their needs is that often times the said authorities may have a legitimate need while they themselves are corrupt. I need not point to the ongoing scandals already making headlines to support my claim. People often forget that all it takes is one disgruntled employee or one very needy individual to render an entire data base a horrendous nightmare.

Authority is typically and frequently abused. Big Tech and corporations don't like it when the little guy says, 'No, the buck stops here. I will be my own first line of defence, thank you very much.' This would imply individual accountability and responsibility. In a world where liberty is consistently being traded off for security such measures are greatly discouraged. But again, let's look at the so-called security. In reality it really isn't anything to boast about. Big data is constantly experiencing security breaches. They happen on a weekly basis easily. Those big fat juicy data centres may as well have bull's eyes painted on their roof tops. To certain individuals they are practically irresistible. As for myself, I'm tired of the rhetoric. I know very well that these "clouds" (what a stupid name) don't have my best interests at heart. I don't buy the narrative. For me, it's all more pie in the sky.

Didn't you post a video over at 10F when she built your computer, but she wanted it to be Pink.

The very last thing I'm ever going to worry about is Microsoft's or the authorities' interest in reading or using my data.

No, that was the "guest computer". Her mother also has a pink PC. I have limited the number of pink PCs in the house to two. They're both running even as I type this and yup... They're on the network.

Anyway, so sometimes OneDrive logs get huge.

This is why real end-to-end encryption is best... 1. even with a warent, they cant hand over usable data. 2.if the servers get stolen or hacked.. all data is encrypted and only the owner has the key.. so even with a leak, the data is not usable.

I don't believe we fundamentally disagree. Sometimes there is a need, for a govt with the proper legal authority to access private information. On the other hand, there is no reason at all for private companies to have access or store our private information without our explicit permission. Unfortunately due to weak privacy laws, I don't know how we put the horse back into the barn. Pretty much every thing you purchase, view, etc is being tracked in one manner or another.

Reset - Nope
Reinstall - Nope
Relinking - Nope
Removing PreSignInSettingsConfig.json - Nope
Removing %localappdata%\Microsoft\OneDrive - Nope
Allowing blocked activity.windows.com via DNS - Nope

Relinking actually removed all local files except 2GB, then downloaded 23GB again, but kept going 83GB...

My phone's Internal storage is 256GB and it is okay for me now.
