Help if you can

I purchased a mini pc. If I tell windows to restart I end up in bios menu, I can then hold the power button until pc shuts down. Then hit the power button and it will boot into windows I have never had this issue before.

There's a regular on here, that does... MiniPCs ...and the new title will get his attention.
I can't remember who it is, at the moment.

By chance are you holding down the shift key when shutting down? Can you try a different keyboard.

I am only using the mouse.

What mini pc are you using? I have a couple of intel Nuc's, and a Beelink SEI8, but haven't experienced this issue.

Run this
%windir%\System32\shutdown.exe -s -f -t 00
If that works problem is with windows
If it doesn't problem is in BIOS

Legacy BIOS or UEFI?

How are the booting sessions set in BIOS? Might help if you take some photos - of the Boot tab and also the Windows OS Configuration (should be in the Advanced tab - if it's UEFI).

Mr.pparks1, I bought the Minisforum um690.

I am trying to respond to members who are trying to help. This is the only way I can see to post anything I can't figure how to answer a direct questions back to the member who asked it. I am wondering if I respond like I am doing now will everyone get emails when I only need the person who asked to get the answer? If it works that way it's ok. I appreciate the help. I just don't won't to cause members to receive meaningless emails.

If you click the word Quote in the bottom right-hand corner of the post to which you're replying that wil create your reply space with the text to which you're replying.

When a modern computer doesn't find a bootable device it boots to the BIOS. This means that either your boot settings are not configured properly or that the disk is failing and is not every time detected. In the first case make sure you boot in the same mode that Windows is installed, that is UEFI mode (listed as Windows Bootloader, you can tell by the computer logo and the spinning dots), or Legacy (CSM, listed as the model of the disk, you see the standard blue Windows logo and the spinning dots). If for example you have a Legacy Windows installation and you enable UEFI mode only, you will get an error as no UEFI bootable devices are found or you will see the BIOS instead, like in your case. If you can enable both UEFI and CSM (Secure Boot must be turned off), then you should not have any problem booting from either UEFI or Legacy Windows installation. If your boot settings are OK, but the disk is not always detected (confirm with BIOS in the storage or boot priority section), then you should replace it as soon as possible, or it will fail and you won't be able to recover your data.
