Yes, it was this post: safe boot with network - no network

You just have to update registry subkey with the name of the driver's service and then it should load in Safe Mode with Networking. You can find the associated service by checking that driver's .inf file or by searching the registry for that driver name using something like FRST with the DRIVERS hive loaded.

I wrote a post about a Kernel Critical Error that occurred after KB5036893. I tried clean installs, removing drivers and software, but the error persisted. This error was also related to power and fast boot issues. After all unsuccessful attempts to find a solution and fix this error, I finally downgraded the BIOS, and everything worked fine.

This is the strangest update I have received so far.

I have no .inf file. This may be the key as to why some folks wi-fi adapters will work in safe boot and some won't. All of us do not have an .inf file.
I'm gonna try to force the driver from Dell to see if it makes a difference....after I make an image.

An updated BIOS seldom causes a Windows kernel panic.

The obvious solution would have been to roll back the buggy update until Microsoft issued a fix.

Keeping it can make Windows worse.

First, if this is not a typo, your software is way out of date. 4.6.13 is current.

Turn off start with Windows and restart. Do your Windows upgrade/updates, then reopen MB and toggle it back on.

And I'll do this when it next tries to install the patches. (Now scheduled for 1 May).

I have never personally had to disable Malwarebytes to install any Windows update.
And neither has any of my paid clients.

@Porthos I never had to either until last fall. I had 3 cumulatives in a row fail until I turned it off. Don't know why unless it's something machine specific. It became part of my 'pre-update Tuesday' routine which is SFC, image, disable MWB. Maybe I'll try the next one with MWB on to see if whatever it was might have worked itself out.

Don't install Norton on you PC EVER .. it's a POS you will experience no end of problems.
