I had to change it to a more modern computer. And this time I used "Harry P" font.
Originally I had it say: "Make it go faster!"
I first made it about 8-10 years ago. :D

Isn't it funny - when Vista came out, many people wanted pc to look like XP, Windows 7 to look like Vista (or XP), W8 to look like W7, W10 (mostly to look like W7, some like W8 (I do not like round corners - practically an oxymoron)), W11 to look like W10 etc.

Do people not see a sort of pattern - some people just seem to refuse to accept change.

How many posts do we see of tools that emulate older versions that keep inconveniently breaking as W11 gets updates?

In the end, is it worth it?

Yeah, there's a pattern.
It used to be, most things would stay the same until enough people demanded a change.

Now, the industry has decided to force people into change they didn't ask for, and that's not right.

Not really - every version of Windows has been different, although I concede Windows 11 hardware constraints are not justifiable.

My thoughts exactly. I embrace the new and make no changes except those that the new GUI allows, like organising my apps in named groups on Start. I count that as a major contributing factor in my never having had any Windows Update failures or issues.

    fully 'Windows 11 ready' laptop. Windows 10 C: partition migrated from my old unsupported 'main machine' then upgraded to 11. A test migration ran Insider builds for 2 months. When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Windows Update offered the 22H2 Feature Update on 20th September 2022. It got the 23H2 Feature Update on 4th November 2023 through Windows Update, 24H2 on 3rd October 2024 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 24H2, and 25H2 on 30th September 2025 through Windows Update by setting the Target Release Version for 25H2.

    UPDATE - 11 April 2026: due to mechanical deterioration this PC has been retired from active duty. The OS with all software and files has been migrated to my System Seven in 'Other systems' to carry on as my general purpose 'main machine'.

    My SYSTEM FIVE is a Dell Latitude 3190 2-in-1, Pentium Silver N5030, 8GB RAM, 1TB NVMe ssd, supported device running Windows 11 Pro, plus Insider Beta, Dev, and Canary builds (and a few others) as a native boot .vhdx.

    My SYSTEM SIX is a Dell Latitude 5550, Core Ultra 7 165H, 64GB RAM, 1TB NVMe SSD, supported device, Windows 11 Pro 24H2, Hyper-V host machine. Updated to 25H2 on 30th September 2025.

    My SYSTEM SEVEN is a Lenovo Thinkpad T580, Intel Core i7-8650U, 16GB RAM, 512GB NVMe SSD + 2nd 512GB NVMe SSD, a supported device for Windows 11. This is my current general purpose 'main machine'. The installed Windows 11 Home from my System One has been migrated to this machine.

While I do agree that change for a mutually acceptable reason, isn't bad, we have been being herded towards a phone/tablet OS since Windows 8. There's NO good reason why we can't have a desktop OS and a phone/tablet OS, or an OS that has both "options".

And there's absolutely NO good reason to "force" people into either option exclusively.

We do have a desktop OS, phones are looking more of a desktop that it to phones. MS missed on great opportunity with Windows Phone. I was hoping to be able to run a program on one device and continue on another.

In my view it all dates back to when M$oft were going to rule the world with the Lumia phone - they were suffering with the fruit company envy - hence Win8. Plenty of folks, well at least around these parts, urged them not to release it but it was and promptly condemned as a mess by the majority of the media and that's putting it mildly.

Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if at some time Windows becomes a subscription service unless they can make some serious money from the Store, One Drive, etc. Agree though with many sentiments that sometimes it appears changes are introduced for the sake of change with little, if any, benefits to the end user.

It's Nokia Lumia (not Lumix) Windows phone, I still have my Lumia 640 with W10 on it, works fine, great phone. Had to change for Android because of lack of APPs I needed, My friends iPhone conked out and I gave him my Lumia to use.

Hell... I had a Nokia bar phone back in the early 2000's. It was indestructible.

I liked how it worked and familiarity of interface, Almost a year now and I'm still fumbling with Android, Only problem was APPs for it or lack of them.
