Increase the taskbar itself. Assistance trying to figure this out.

Hi All,

This might be a long shot, I figure I try anyways.
I am running Windows 11 21H2 on HP Omen Laptop.

On Windows 10, I was able to move my mouse to the edge of the taskbar where it changes to the arrow and move the arrow and adjust how many rows I want the taskbar to be (when the taskbar is unlocked of course).

I can't seem to find this same setting on Windows 11 and all Google is pointing me to is a Regedit to change the icon size which I do not want. I want to change the height of the taskbar itself.

I hope this makes sense.

That's another useful thing that Microsoft removed.

Supposedly, you can use Explorer Patcher to get it back...

IMHO, MS is trying to make Windows 11 into the OS they wanted Windows 8/8.1 to be. An OS geared for mobile devices and less for desktops.

I agree with that.

I know what the OP is getting at, and personally I've never noticed that the right side of the active portion of the taskbar is GONE.
We used to be able to grab that little divider with the mouse and move it around.
And, so is the ability to grab the Taskbar with the mouse and drag it to the side of the screen, or even to the top of the screen.
WOW, that is really a big change.

I just fired up my 8.1 PC and checked out the task bar. I could grab it with the mouse and drag it to the right edge of the desktop, and then to the top of the screen, then the left side of the screen and then back to the bottom of the screen. I can't do any of that here on Windows 11. I guess that's what MS considers 'Progress'.

But even on 8.1, the right limit of the active area of the taskbar is gone!
Little things we don't use, we don't miss.

Has anyone ever missed their appendix after it was removed? Or tonsils? Or Gall Bladder? Probably not!

In Microsoft's defense, I wonder how many lines of code were eliminated by them cutting out the little things I've mentioned above?

Winaerotweaker can increase the size of the taskbar, but does not add rows for additional icons. It only makes the taskbar width and one row of icons larger.

StartAllBack switches many 11 things back to how they were in 10. I've just checked, clicking on the top of the taskbar and dragging makes it bigger and click and drag the taskbar to move it to the desired side or top. StartAllBack to fix all Windows 11 deal-breaking UI issues
