Hello.

I have a frequent error in event viewer: 7009- Service Control Manager, caused by Intel(R) TPM Provisioning service.
I found that if I change the service from automatic to manual the error disappears.
Any inconvenience in leaving it in manual?

Thanks a lot!

OK thanks.
I'll wait for someone who has a lead. I don't know if this service should be set for automatic.
As it involves TPM I'm afraid I might have done wrong when switching from automatic to manual.

It's in services for Intel hardware on Automatic here but not for AMD, doesn't seem to be anything obviously equivalent for AMD.

Thanks.
It's better to switch it back to automatic despite the 7009 error it triggers.
It doesn't seem to affect pc performance.
I have to do an event viewer detox !

I don't think it can give Errors if it is set to manual as it is not running until you run it. I have no idea what it needs to be set on, try manual and see, that's what I would do. I am sure if it was important Windows would make a fuss. Obviously Automatic is best, I wouldn't worry to much as long as all is working well and wait for next update

Hello.
No...due the processor.... its a Intel I7 7500U.

As for error 7009, as I said, it disappears if you put the service in manual.
When I'm bored I sometimes do some bug hunting in the event viewer, but so far this bug hasn't caused any problems I've noticed.

Hello.
I use ms hello with pin number (I think that's what it's called).
lately as I mentioned in the first post, when putting the service in manual the error disappeared, and it seemed to work well, with several logins with the pin.
But as it involves TPM and i started to fear that in some situation, for example BIOS update, I might regret it.
I only know a little more than the basics and I put it back on automatic again.
The error (when the service is set to automatic) is 7009 Device Setup Manager (Intel(R) TPM Provisioning service-A timeout was reached (30000 milliseconds) while waiting for the Windows).
It hapens just in startup.

Thanks !

The correct error name and description is:

Service Control Manager 7009
"A timed out was reached (45000 milliseconds) while waiting for Intel(R) TPM Provisioning Service to turn on."

Not Device Setup Manager has i said in the previous post.

Thanks!

Check if increasing the ServicesPipeTimeout value helps.

P.S., if the service fails to start, you can try to troubleshoot by substituting service_name with "Intel(R) TPM Provisioning Service" in the commands shown here:

Hello.

I have a frequent error in event viewer: 7009- Service Control Manager, caused by Intel(R) TPM Provisioning service.
I found that if I change the service from automatic to manual the error disappears.
Any inconvenience in leaving it in manual?

Thanks a lot!
I found the source of this error. I tried to manually start the service and kept getting an error also, and finally tracked it down by trying to run the executable at \Program Files\Intel\Intel(R) Management Engine Components\iCLS\TPMProvisioningService.exe

Intel TPM Provisioning Service requires vcruntime140_1.dll which is missing until you install Visual C++ Redistributable. This can be found at:
