What do you mean? To open Home (previously Quick Access) by default? If you haven't changed to open This PC by default, it should always open Home. If you have changed it and you want to make Home default again, go to Control Panel, change view from Category to Large icons and then go to Explorer settings (don't remember the exact description). Change the default from This PC to Home (Quick Access).

I secretly upgraded one of our work computer from Windows 10 to 11 and had to make it look as much as possible as Windows 10 to avoid getting any trouble. Just wanted to test compatibility, as expected everything works fine. If an application works in Windows 10 64-bit, then it should also work in 11 with the same settings. Confirmed.

Jeepers - my company would sack anybody who did this. Our pcs are locked down!

Your test only proves that the apps you use are compatible - you cannot 100% guarantee that applies for all apps.

Having said that, I have not heard of any major mainstream apps that had any issues which is hardly surprising as W11 is just W10 with a new dumbed down gui.

They would not sack me, they would ask to restore Windows 10. In worst case I would have to reinstall Windows 10 and all the applications. We are a Service store and we repair computers, tablets, mobile phones etc. Naturally we have Administrator rights to our computers, so all I had to do was bypass compatibility check and proceed with the upgrade. It is an Intel second generation Core-i5 CPU, 4GB RAM, SSD, Intel HD 2000 graphics, legacy BIOS installation, no TPM, no Secure Boot.

You can add me to your friends list., I'm an electronics engineer-precision mechanic, and software (windows) is my hobby... I like to learn and experiment. Unfortunately, I only have one regular laptop on which I do all this.

You can practice with virtual machines. If you don't like Hyper-V you can use VMWare Player or Virtualbox. I just remembered the one application I haven't tested in Windows 11. Probably the good old Microsoft Virtual PC 2007 will not work as it didn't work in Windows 10 (without some tweaking), but the newer equivalent Windows Virtual PC could work. This was used to add Windows XP compatibility to Windows 7 Professional or higher. The alternative was to install Windows XP in VMWare Player and enable Unity mode to run the XP application in a window rather than in the virtual desktop of the virtual machine. I will try Windows Virtual PC just to see if it works and report back.

I will try Windows Virtual PC just to see if it works and report back.
yes, I use Hyper V 🖖

not so bad, low cost, budget
I prefer VMWare Workstation. It has some good features such as Serial and Parallel port sharing, instead of only USB and also 3D acceleration. I use the Parallel port sharing to connect an old ZIP-100 drive to a Windows XP guest and access my old ZIP disks. Up to Windows 7 32-bit I could copy-paste the XP drivers and install the ZIP drive natively. From Windows 8 32-bit or newer there is some change in the Parallel port drivers making it unable to detect the drive. The same goes for Windows 8 64-bit or higher using the drivers for Windows XP x64. The only workaround is to install the ZIP software in a Windows XP virtual machine and pass control of the Parallel port to the virtual machine.
