To switch between the two states, swipe up and down on the bottom of your screen. Windows 11 servicing stack update - 22621.1344​

This update makes quality improvements to the servicing stack, which is the component that installs Windows updates. Servicing stack updates (SSU) ensure that you have a robust and reliable servicing stack so that your devices can receive and install Microsoft updates.

IT adminsUsing provisioning packages on Windows 11, version 22H2 (also called Windows 11 2022 Update) might not work as expected. Windows might only be partially configured, and the Out Of Box Experience might not finish or might restart unexpectedly. Provisioning packages are .PPKG files which are used to help configure new devices for use on business or school networks. Provisioning packages which are applied during initial setup are most likely to be impacted by this issue. For more information on provisioning packages, please see Provisioning packages for Windows.

Note Provisioning Windows devices using Windows Autopilot is not affected by this issue.

Windows devices used by consumers in their home or small offices are not likely to be affected by this issue.		If you can provision the Windows device before upgrading to Windows 11, version 22H2, this will prevent the issue.

We are presently investigating and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
IT adminsUpdates released February 14, 2023 or later might not be offered from some Windows Server Update Services (WSUS) servers to Windows 11, version 22H2. The updates will download to the WSUS server but might not propagate further to client devices. Affected WSUS servers are only those running Windows Server 2022 which have been upgraded from Windows Server 2016 or Windows Server 2019. This issue is caused by the accidental removal of required Unified Update Platform (UUP) MIME types during the upgrade to Windows Server 2022 from a previous version of Windows Server. This issue might affect security updates or feature updates for Windows 11, version 22H2. Microsoft Configuration Manager is not affected by this issue.To mitigate this issue, please see Adding file types for Unified Update Platform on premises.

We are working on a resolution and will provide an update in an upcoming release.
All usersAfter installing this or later updates, Windows devices with some third-party UI customization apps might not start up. These third-party apps might cause errors with explorer.exe that might repeat multiple times in a loop. The known affected third-party UI customization apps are ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack. These types of apps often use unsupported methods to achieve their customization and as a result can have unintended results on your Windows device.ExplorerPatcher and StartAllBack have released a version that lists this issue as resolved.

Note If you are using any third-party UI customization app and encounter this or any other issues, you will need to contact customer support for the developer of the app you are using.
IT adminsAfter installing updates released January 10, 2023, and later, kiosk device profiles that have auto log on enabled might not sign in automatically. After Autopilot completes provisioning, affected devices will stay on the sign-in screen prompting for credentials.This issue is addressed in KB5023778.
All usersAfter installing this update, some apps might have intermittent issues with speech recognition, expressive input, and handwriting when using Chinese or Japanese languages. Affected apps might sometimes fail to recognize certain words or might be unable to receive any input from speech recognition or affected input types. This issue is more likely to occur when apps are using offline speech recognition.

Note for app developers This issue only affects speech recognition using Speech Recognition Grammar Specification (SRGS) in Windows.Media.SpeechRecognition. Other implementations of speech recognition are not affected.		This issue is addressed in KB5026446.
IT adminsYou might have intermittent issues saving, copying, or attaching files using 32-bit apps, which are large address aware and using the CopyFile API. Windows devices are more likely to be affected by this issue when using some commercial or enterprise security software that uses extended file attributes. Microsoft Office apps, such as Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel are only affected when using 32-bit versions and you might receive the error, "Document not saved."

This issue is unlikely to be experienced by consumers using Windows devices in their home or on non-managed commercial devices. Apps are not affected by this issue if they are 64-bit or 32-bit and NOT large address aware.		This issue is addressed in KB5027231.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

Yeah, this update broke a lot of the 3rd party tweakers. :/
But... I don't think waiting is gonna change anything. They aren't really... "bugs".

They are MS fighting back against us tweakers. So these things aren't gonna go away.

Little story...

Sometime around July 2021, we were all on Win 11 Insider. Someone on the internet found a simple registry tweak, that made the Win 11 start menu, just like the Win 10 start menu. That lasted about a month, month and a half...

The Microsoft came along and "broke" that registry tweak. They broke it so well, that no one has found a simple registry tweak for the Start Menu, since then.

No Windows Explorer

After allowing this update to install a couple of hours ago, and after the reboot, Windows Explorer WILL NOT RUN.

All three of my screens are completely blank, but with a solid greenish-gray background color. No wallpaper. No icons. No Task Bar. No Startup apps.

I can hit ctl-alt-del and open the Task Manager. The explorer task is not in the list.

I tried running it manually by clicking "Run new task" and entering "explorer". The explorer task was listed in Task Manager very briefly, and then it was gone again. I even browsed to and selected "C:\Windows\explorer.exe". Same problem. I can open other apps using the same method. Command prompt, etc

I went back to a Restore Point that was created just before this Windows 11 update was installed. Everything is back as it should be. Windows Explorer is back.

I tried this all again. I allowed windows to download and install this update. No Windows Explorer again. Went back to the Restore Point. Okay again.

I have to think the problem is with the update. At this point, I am at the limit of my personal abilities to diagnose this problem any further.


UPDATE
OH! I didn't think of this. I have since read other posts discussing tweakers being broken after this update. I *am* using ExplorerPatcher. And I've made a number of tweaks using UWT (Ultimate Windows Tweaker) and Winaero Tweaker. Maybe the problem is there.

If you're using one of the 3rd party tweaking tools.... that's what's breaking File Explorer.
People running things like Explorer Patcher, and Stardock Start11, have been having troubles with this update.


If you're NOT running any 3rd party tweaking tools... then you might just need to do an In-Place Upgrade (repair install).
It fixes Windows problems, but leaves all your programs, etc., untouched.
Takes about 30 minutes on my computer.

DISABLE non-Microsoft:
a) antivirus software
b) firewall software
c) drive encryption software

Make a full OS backup with a program like Macrium Reflect (free)

Right click the ISO image and choose: MOUNT
Open File Explorer and you will see a new drive letter. It will "look" like a DVD optical drive.
Double click the new drive letter to open it.
Find setup.exe and double click it to start the in-place upgrade.

Choose the Keep personal files and apps option.

After it's all done... to UNmount the ISO image, right click the new drive letter and choose: EJECT.


The ONLY thing you will lose is some of your personalizations.
Your drivers, programs and data will be intact.

This is getting to be pretty much.... the norm. I had that "Recommended" thing removed from the Start Menu, with just a reg tweak... one of the updates put it back.
Same with the File Explorer ribbon bar. Simple tweak and we got the Win 10 ribbon bar back. MS decided... no way and we have the Win 11 thingy up there. Rinse and repeat.

This "update" destroyed my taskbar also .
How to fix , maybe by uninstalling the tweak-software , rebooting and update again........???

Depends on what it did to your taskbar.
If it just made it fatter... that vivetool tweak will fix that.

It might fix other Taskbar things too. All that happened on my comp was the Taskbar got fat, and it broke TranslucentTB.
Both of which were fixed with the vivetool tweak.

The crazy part was that the registry was still set for the small taskbar. And even though my Taskbar got fat... that registry entry wasn't changed by this update.

All I run is Winaero Tweaker and TranslucentTB.

By enabling or disabling certain 8 digit "ID numbers", you can turn Windows 11 features ON or OFF. In many cases, Vivetool is the "only" way to enable/disable certain features. Make sure you use 3rd party backup software, before you start "tweaking" Windows. ^^ These numbers don't seem to work...

Just installed this update and my Event Viewer is now throwing up lots of Event ID 200, 201 & 202 errors.

I've cleared it, rebooted and restarted but they keep coming back. Anybody seeing the same errors?

Just ignore them. You just did an update, and Warning 200 is... A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established. LOL
Look at Event Viewer (Local). Same info, but a lot less worrisome. :-)

First of all...thanks so much for your timely response, unless I'm mistaken..isn't github owned at least in part by microsoft these days ? Sometimes microsoft tends to not provide nearly enough pertinent information to users of their products. Thank goodness for us this great forum is available for anyone who wants to become a member & participate. I'll for sure check out the vivetool that has a graphical user interface, I have already discovered that a person using this tool really needs to be careful so as to not cause any issues with their system. I have installed the vivetool with the gui interface which I do find much easier to use, one thing that I've already discovered is at the upper left hand corner it shows which build version of the o.s. that you're currently using, in my case it's 22621.1344 , and it's not listed does that really matter ?

Is it possible to uninstall MicrosoftWindows.Client.WebExperience (widgets)?
Winget does not work anymore. I guess I will have to remove it like smartscreen.

OK thanks. I've disabled the Device Setup Manager in Services and all those errors have disappeared. I'll turn it on again at a later date to see if it works. I assume it must be something at Microsoft's end.

These are the items it reported:

- A connection to the Windows Metadata and Internet Services (WMIS) could not be established.
- The Network List Manager reports no connectivity to the internet.
- A connection to the Windows Update service could not be established.

The only time I look at Device Manager is if something breaks, and I can't figure out what it is.
Other than that... I just ignore it. It's generally, chock full of false positives.


But... I would turn Device Setup Manager back on again.

Does not work for me either. Also the search box in Task Manager is not accessible (search box is ghosted). See screenshot below. Text input is not possible.

Update: text input is ONLY possible when selecting the Details tab. But NOT with ALT+F keys.
