Win Update KB5027397 Enablement Package for Windows 11 version 23H2 Feature Update

  • Staff

 Microsoft Support:

Summary

Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2 share a common core operating system with an identical set of system files. Therefore, the new features in Windows 11, version 23H2 are included in the latest monthly quality update for Windows 11, version 22H2 but are in an inactive and dormant state. These new features will remain dormant until they are turned on through the “enablement package,” a small, quick-to-install “master switch” that activates the Windows 11, version 23H2 features.

The enablement package is a great option for installing a scoped feature update like Windows 11, version 23H2 as it enables an update from version 22H2 to version 23H2 with a single restart, reducing update downtime. This enables devices to take advantage of new features now. For version 22H2 devices that receive updates directly from Windows Update, devices automatically get the enablement package by installing the feature update to Windows 11, version 23H2.

Just amazing...
23H2 reintroduces the AMD Adrenaline bug where settings are reset each time you reboot the system.
WHY?????
Ugh...

It might be caused by Copilot.

Both.
Eventually you'll get it through Windows Update.
Or you could just download it at the bottom of the first post in this thread.

Either way, works.

There's a bit of an oddity in the way it rolls out. Do you have 'Get the latest updates....' turned on in Windows Update? If so, turn it off and then check for updates. You should then see 23H2 offered as an optional update. That's how I got it for all my machines.

It's a bit too early, it's 3:40am in Redmond and they'll all be asleep. MS usually make all their updates at 10am (Redmond time), as they did for the Patch Tuesday updates. You've got another six hours to wait and find out.....

There's a bit of an oddity in the way it rolls out. Do you have 'Get the latest updates....' turned on in Windows Update? If so, turn it off and then check for updates. You should then see 23H2 offered as an optional update. That's how I got it for all my machines.
Get latest is off, I keep it off. I'm happy just waiting for it. I'm running 11 on a couple of older machines till I can afford to give Bill more money for some new ones. Never know when one of the updates might break them. :-)

Yes, the products.xml used by the Media Creation Tool hasn't been updated yet, it still make an ISO for 22H2 build 22621.1702. Only the direct download ISO is 23H2 at present.

Are they supported devices? If not, then Window Update will never offer them the 23H2 feature update. You can update an unsupported device with the enablement package in post #1, it won't check for compatibility.

I don't see the issue, per se. If you need it that bad simply get the ISO. But then again, I'm the keep it simple type as I don't modify the install for all sorts of stuff.

Thanks for the clarification though.

    This is my backup system.
Direct download iso is all I want or need. Rufus will create a bootable and/or in-place upgrade.
It's downloading now & the file name is : Win11_23H2_English_x64.iso
Why is it 22621 instead of 22631?
It is Service Pack 2428 not 2715.

Shouldn't need this anymore: KB5027397 Enablement Package for Windows 11 version 23H2 Feature Update.msu
