Win Update KB5027397 Enablement Package for Windows 11 version 23H2 Feature Update

  • Staff

 Microsoft Support:

Summary

Windows 11, versions 22H2 and 23H2 share a common core operating system with an identical set of system files. Therefore, the new features in Windows 11, version 23H2 are included in the latest monthly quality update for Windows 11, version 22H2 but are in an inactive and dormant state. These new features will remain dormant until they are turned on through the “enablement package,” a small, quick-to-install “master switch” that activates the Windows 11, version 23H2 features.

The enablement package is a great option for installing a scoped feature update like Windows 11, version 23H2 as it enables an update from version 22H2 to version 23H2 with a single restart, reducing update downtime. This enables devices to take advantage of new features now. For version 22H2 devices that receive updates directly from Windows Update, devices automatically get the enablement package by installing the feature update to Windows 11, version 23H2.

If I remember correctly, I may be wrong, but the ISO will give you 22631.2428 on download......
Yes it does. I edited my post.
BTW, I need this to update my friends' computers.

Are they supported devices? If not, then Window Update will never offer them the 23H2 feature update. You can update an unsupported device with the enablement package in post #1, it won't check for compatibility.
They are unsupported. Couple old Zotac BI325's. So I'll do it that way, Thanks!

Good news, the Media Creation Tool started offering 23H2 just yesterday and it already has the 22631.2715 build. One thing I noticed was that if you run dism /Get-WimInfo against the image, it shows the build version at 22621, but if you install Windows, it will install 22631. Apparently, the installer's OS is on the old 22621 build, but it will install the newer 22631. Go figure.

Brink,

I've just had somebody ask me which download they need.
Perhaps something long the lines of my reply could usefully be put in the standard spiel in News update threads.
Unless you have a Processor made by ARM, download the other one, the x64 one.
ARM Processors are not common.
You can check using any of the common utilities that list your Processor type such as:-
Settings, System, About - Processor entry
1712860366178.png
I choose the x64 one because I have an AMD Processor.
I would also choose the x64 one if I had an Intel Processor.
