Windows Secure Boot certificate expiration
Important
Secure Boot certificates used by most Windows devices were set to expire starting in June 2026. Microsoft has been updating these certificates on PCs and non-managed business devices for the past months. Devices that haven’t received the newer certificates will continue to start, and standard Windows updates will continue to install. We will continue to install the newer certificates via Windows updates in the coming months.

End of updates
Windows 11, version 24H2 Home and Pro editions will reach end of updates on October 13, 2026. Devices running these editions will no longer receive fixes for known issues, time zone updates, technical support, or monthly security and preview updates containing protections from the latest security threats. Enterprise and Education editions remain supported until October 12, 2027.

To stay protected and up to date, we recommend you upgrade to the latest version of Windows 11.

How to get this update​

Before you install this update

Microsoft combines the latest servicing stack update (SSU) for your operating system with the latest cumulative update (LCU). For general information about SSUs, see Servicing stack updates.

Deployment​

If you deploy dynamic updates such as this update to an existing Windows image, ensure the boot.stl file is included as part of the installation media. Failure to include the file might prevent devices from successfully starting from the installation media and can result in error code 0xc0430001.

Note
The boot.stl file is used during Secure Boot validation and must match the Windows version and architecture of the image you are updating.

To ensure the boot.stl file is included as part of the installation media, do one of the following:
  • Use the Update WinPE script to update an existing Windows image. (Recommended)
  • Manually copy the boot.stl file from the device Windows\Boot\EFI folder to the corresponding folder on your installation media before deploying the update.

It's simple (well, you get it) Restore health is broken and it has been for a while but now it's not getting better, it's getting worst. The system tries to restore a bunch of files that aren't even the same versions. That in itself might be OK because we know that MS makes changes by sequence and in different sections of the core. But the we see the command work, it seems so screwed up that it can't even find the right files to make a repair even if you have the same ISO.

So yeah, for now I would go with GOT and just do a clean-up. I'm adding SFC at the end just to see if the system is intact.

Here is my restore health and sfc after repaired Bluetooth files. Notice, restore health is gone off the deep end and yet SFC says, you're fine.

Doesn't work! I tried it with the standard on-line source, then with the UUP ISO, and finally with the MCT ISO. In each case the repair completed with no hint of errors, but the RestoreHealth still fails with the same error.

MCT has the 9168 build and it won't fix your problem, already tried that.

All my registry changes survived the repair install. The repair doesn't tinker with the registry for just that reason. Unfortunately, I believe the problem is in the registry, so I don't know how it's going to be fixed.

Windows strikes again, so much for MS making it "more reliable"! 🙄

Have you tried resetting the component store back to base?

DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /StartComponentCleanup /ResetBase

Then sfc /scannow

Might be the component store is corrupted or files are missing.

Same experience I had up to this update. Now I get the "cannot find anywhere..." error. Here is the weird part: sfc /scannow failed and multiple runs couldn't fix it. Then I ran dism /restorehealth and got the error, but after that sfc /scannow ran successfully.

Oh well, I hope they fix it soon. This is the kind of thing that should be on their open issues list.

Option 1 failed on both 8973 ande 9168. I have an iso for 9168 from uup dump, and ...RestoreHealth failed that too..
