Laptop running out of space quickly

I am using an HP 255 G7 and suddenly it starts to run out of disk space . I need help please

You never told us the size of the disk drive!

The Disk drive is 248 GB

Have you tried running Disk Cleanup?

The HP 255 G7 came with a 256 GB SSD. 248GB usable
You can download a 3rd party app like WinDirStat
this will tell you what is using all the space.

As stated, go to Search and type Disk Cleanup and press enter.
Put a check mark next to everything and let it scan and delete the temporary files you don't need

You may need to upgrade to a larger disk. Or add an external USB drive to backup some of your User Files

If you don’t have a secondary drive or external drive to save downloads etc to, then the SSD in your laptop is eventually going to decrease in size, depending on your habits.
Running Disk Cleanup would be a start.

• Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog.
• Type cleanmgr and press Enter.
• If prompted, select the drive you want to clean (usually C:) and click OK.
• Wait while Windows scans for files to clean.
• In the Disk Cleanup window, check the boxes for the file types you want to delete:
  • Temporary files
  • Recycle Bin
  • System created Windows Error Reporting
  • Thumbnails
  • Delivery Optimization Files
• Select them all > click OK > Delete Files.

Also: Clean up system files

• In the Disk Cleanup window, click Clean up system files.
• Select the drive again if prompted.
• After scanning, you’ll see additional options like:
  • Windows Update Cleanup
  • Previous Windows installations
  • System error memory dump files
• Select them all > click OK > Delete Files.

Run the Disk Cleanup First,

Windows 11 generates temporary files that can safely be removed. To remove these junk files:

Open Settings (Windows + i) and navigate to System > Storage.

Select the Junk files to remove from the list, and click Remove files > Continue.
Click the back arrow to return to the previous screen.
Enabled the first option: Keep Windows running smoothly.
Turn on the button below Automatic User content cleanup.
Scroll down and configure the cleanup schedules to your preference.

As stated, you can enable Storage Sense in Settings/System/Storage.
After scanning, click Cleanup Options and delete all the recommended files.

Another point to consider. An SSD really starts to slow down when you get down to 15-20% remaining space, it's not good to treat them exactly like a HDD as far as space usage.
