Laptop will not go to sleep!

yeah I could do that.
But, I want to confirm power button is the problem before I do anything.

The Power Button in reality is not stuck. I can press it fine. It presses and triggers shutdown.

also I ran the following commands to see if it's really the problem.

C:\Windows\System32>powercfg -devicequery wake_armed
NONE

C:\Windows\System32>powercfg -waketimers
There are no active wake timers in the system.

C:\Windows\System32>powercfg -lastwake

Does this make sense.

My BIOS is updated to the latest version. Although the latest version was released in 2017.

I would buy that air spray anyway. Not only for cleaning the power button, but the whole keyboard and all ventilation slits to make sure the laptop is not overheating. Also don't press the power button to sleep. Either manually click on sleep from shutdown menu, or close the lid. So if the power button is indeed stuck, it should sleep and not wake after a while.

This one, there wasn't a link available for non members, so I copied and executed the entire powercfg commands as a list. I attached it as a text file. I'll also attach the reports generated. Hope this workaround has what you need.

I am unable to install WMIC

Its not on the list in optional features.

also the command prompt says the following

Network adapters are usually the most likely cause, but I'm sure you've disabled the Power Management > Allow this device to wake the computer option.

I have never found the -lastwake response to be useful so have no notes about using it.

I can give you an Event viewer, Custom view definition that can identify what's happening when you try to sleep the computer.
It would show whether or not it entered sleep then bounced straight out or never entered sleep at all.

I've found powercfg /lastwake to be less useful than it used to be.
Many times in the past few years, it's displayed nothing for me.

- Create one for this test if necessary

2 What is the response to this cmd in an Admin cmd or PS prompt?
POWERCFG /REQUESTS

I hope you don't mind but I have found EventID 107 to be entirely spurious.
Every S3 Sleep & Hibernate event is followed 1 second later by an EventID 107 that is not matched by any real change of power state [or any entry in the SystemPowerReport] - the computer remains in S3 Sleep & Hibernate as directed. I've tested this in two Windows 10 computers & one Windows 11 computer.
I've attached a slightly amended & slightly renamed custom view definition that will help you to see this in any experiments that you conduct.
Instructions are in the link given in my post #29 above.

only and external mouse. But I unplugged it before putting it to sleep. Still doesn't go to sleep.
