Anyone experiencing issues with the latest Firefox update 149.0 ? it's been really bad for me.. having to either close out Firefox completely or wait for it to stop lagging out..

I had so many problems with Firefox 149.0 that I just stopped using it. Google Chrome is experiencing a few problems too. When I tested those web sites in Microsoft Edge 146, everything rendered correctly and no problems. Strangely I am starting to use Microsoft Edge more, but rely on Google Chrome more.

I can't use Chrome or Edge at the moment.. I've got a debloated system and it's pretty minimal and sadly Chrome has stopped supporting extensions I need.. I do appreciate you responding so I'm not the only one with issues.

In the past, all my systems were always debloated. Now I just leave the Windows installs as they are and just disable a few services and remove the apps not used. On these systems, they seem more stable. So I am trying not to debloat my main computers now. Because my other Windows systems that never get debloated run better. I'm starting to see all these debloating/disabling scripts causing problems. May be from Microsoft re-enabling services and features when updates install. I am also getting tired of always needing to re-debloat the systems. Too much work and time in my old age. Done all that for decades.

Anyway, Firefox 149.0 video problems is getting worked on and not sure when those fixes will be out.

go to about:config and look for gfx.webrender.compositor, turn that one to false and reboot Firefox. V149 has a huge regression with webrender layer compositor and causes a ton of lag, blanked out windows and freezes on media playback...

2027221 - WebRender Compositor is Bugged in Firefox 149

I reported this, supposedly they are fixing this, or it's fixed, but I ignore if this will be pushed for the next update.

Here it's working fine, 149 no problems with many pages open, could it be Windows messing with Firefox? I'm on the old version 11 21h2.

It's mostly on YouTube from what I can recall.. it happens a couple of times a day.. it's been fine the past few hours but when it does happen.. it's extremely annoying..

I don't want to jinx it, but I am running the standard release Firefox 149 without issues. Not sure if I have played YouTube videos yet, but full screen videos of TV channels play my favorite series fine without lag or visual artifacts. Not sure if this makes any difference but since version 145 Firefox switched to the Windows Apps SDK method (according to Google AI) to display the web content and this always causes Firefox crashing and terminating when I try to switch to full screen. So in my previous post I described how to toggle a specific setting false (not present in 144 and earlier versions) to switch back to the old drawing method. Maybe you should try it too.

PS: Just tested YouTube, it plays fine, no lag, no artifacts.
